Vanished – Season 1 Episode 4 1

In her subconscious, Alice recalls the beautiful, almost idyllic moments she shared with Tom until he betrayed her.

When they wake up, they find Tom, Mira, and Alex discussing their fate. Alex is convinced that Alice is lying about why she was looking for Tom. He argues that she must be working for someone. Tom tries to calm him down and convince him and Mira that killing Alice would be a poor decision. Helene curses at Alex and gets knocked unconscious. A truck arrives to pick up the "package," and Alex orders Tom to handle Alice and Helene before leaving.

Before Alex and the others return, Tom returns and frees Alice. He orders her to stick a needle in Said's eyes when he comes to kill her. He tells her about a second exit and asks her to run for her life. Alice tries to wake Helene up before Said arrives, but Helene remains unconscious. Alice follows the plan, injures Said, steals the keys, and escapes.

On her way out, she sees the gang sorting the victims by gender and spots a truck parked outside. She runs to the nearest bar and begs for a phone. Luckily, the bartender is kind enough to give her one. She calls the police and waits behind a tree to see who shows up. Inspector Drax is the first to arrive, and she holds him at knifepoint.

Alice hesitates to trust Drax, who enquires about Maurice's fate. As his team arrives, Alice flees back to port, hoping to lead the police to the victims and the gang's hideout. Unfortunately, they find nothing but a single slipper. Desperate, Alice pleads with Drax to trust her, revealing the name of the soap company truck she saw during her escape.

Drax agrees to visit the soap company en route to the police station. On the journey, he expresses disbelief that Alice could be responsible for Maurice's death, questioning how a smart woman like her could be associated with someone like Tom.

At the soap company, Drax asks Alice to stay in his car while the police secure the area. Unheeding his request, Alice sneaks around and discovers Helene tied up. She tries to rescue her but is captured by Said and brought before Alex and his gang, who are conducting business.

Alex orders Said to kill Alice on the spot. As Said pulls out his knife, Tom shoots him, revealing himself as an Interpol agent. The situation becomes tense as Alex and Mira realize Tom is not one of them. Drax and his men arrive at the scene, ordering everyone to stand down.

Alex tries to shift the blame onto Tom, but his game is up when it's revealed that Tom has been working with Interpol for three years. He had been recruited to gain access to Alex and Mira, who were always paranoid and cautious. Alex had ordered him to leave the train because he was being followed, and Maurice was on board.

Tom apologizes sincerely to Alice for keeping his undercover operation a secret and assures her that he is the same man she has always known. He begs for another chance to make things right between them. In the heat of the moment, they passionately make love.

Vanished concludes with a poignant and bittersweet resolution. As the morning sun peeks through the curtains, Alice awakens from their intimate encounter and tends to Helene, who, despite her ordeal, appears to be recovering well but will require several weeks to fully heal. Her eagerness to fulfill her journalistic duties remains undiminished, and she eagerly awaits Alice's response to her first question: what will become of Tom?

The scene shifts, and we find Tom, groggily stirring from slumber, his eyes fixing upon a note left by Alice. The words "At least I had the good manners to leave you a note" are written in a blend of resignation and compassion. Finally, the scene concludes with Alice stepping into a taxi, leaving Tom behind, her departure a poignant reminder of the ephemeral nature of love and the inevitable progression of life.
