The episode begins with Jack listening to Mel’s voicemail, interrupted by a gunshot from Marley’s airstream. It turns out that Tommy has shot a rattlesnake that was about to attack Marley. Jack questions Clay about why he never mentioned that he owns a gun.

Meanwhile, Mel’s patient, Dale, arrives and helps her handle the dogs. Initially, Dale refuses to let her check on his wife, Anne, as he was expecting Vernon and isn’t sure he can trust Mel. After some convincing, Dale allows Mel to look at his wife. It turns out that Anne has appendicitis, and Mel suggests they call an ambulance and get her to the hospital for surgery. However, Dale panics and pulls a gun on Mel, refusing to let her leave or call the ambulance and grabbing her phone.
Marley asks Jack if she can plant an apple tree on the property as a remembrance for the baby. Jack agrees to plant one by the baby’s room window. Elsewhere, Vernon and Hope visit Muriel, worried she might not be doing well after another round of chemo. They find her in high spirits after taking a marijuana gummy with Walt. Muriel and Walt convince Hope and Vernon to take a few gummies too.
At home, Lizzie lies to Denny that she is getting enough rest while watching Koko. At Dale’s place, Mel does her best to convince Dale to take Anne to the hospital. It turns out they don’t trust hospitals after losing their child. With Mel pretty much being held hostage, she ends up missing the meeting with the social worker. This makes Jack anxious since it is unlike her to miss such an important meeting. He asks the social worker to have lunch at the restaurant while he goes to find Mel.
Meanwhile, Mike and Brie team up to follow a Charmaine lead. They interview the people who most likely saw Charmaine for the last time. The salon owner and staff mention that Charmaine was concerned that Calvin may be in trouble with some bad people, and that someone was following him. Even though the description of the stalker is vague, they figure Brady may know the guy.
In this episode, we see the characters dealing with trust issues, both within their personal lives and in their professional relationships. The tension between Mel and Dale highlights the challenges of providing medical care in a community where trust is fragile. Meanwhile, the search for Charmaine’s stalker takes a turn towards the unknown, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats to see what happens next.
Speaking of Brady, he and Kaia receive a call from an elderly lady who invites them for some cake and proceeds to regale them with tales about her grandson. At the restaurant, Jaime and Preacher discuss more ideas for expansion, causing the old women to grow suspicious of their relationship and alert Kaia about their concerns. Kaia tries to play it cool but starts wondering if there could be more between Preacher and Jaime, given their past.
Later at the fire station, she asks the team who is willing to help a nearby town deal with a big fire. Brady volunteers, and the conversation turns to her relationship with Preacher, making her even more concerned after hearing multiple opinions. After calling Denny, Jack tracks Mel and finds her at Dale’s house. He does a great job of de-escalating the situation and getting Dale and Anne to call an ambulance for medical help. However, Mel is not pleased when Oliver shows up with the ambulance and puts him in his place for coming for Vernon.
Although Brady is not thrilled to see Mike and Brie together, he gives them a new lead, thinking that they might be looking for a guy called Wild Bill and advises them to be careful. Later, Mike refuses to work with Brie anymore. She apologizes again and asks him to remember that Charmaine is their priority. In the meantime, Vernon and Hope enjoy a beautiful day at their favorite place. At home, Denny starts to notice that something is off with Lizzie.
Once again, Kaia finds Jaime with Preacher in the restaurant’s kitchen and confronts them. It turns out that the situation was exaggerated; Jamie is actually dating Hannah, the waitress. Kaia quickly apologizes for the misunderstanding. After handling the Dale situation, Mel and Jack have an interview with the social worker, which they nail by all appearances. After the social worker leaves, the two make up, and Mel agrees that starting a farm is not such a bad idea. They end up having steamy makeup sex.
In the evening, Brie runs into Brady at the bar and apologizes. He continues to act like a friend and lets her know he is leaving to help with the wildfire. He feels touched when she asks him to be careful and says she will worry about him.
The episode ends with Marley, Jack, and Mel planting an apple tree on the property when Eamon, Marley’s ex, suddenly shows up.
