Episode 2 of the first season of Wednesday opens with the sheriff leading a team of police officers on a fruitless search for Rowan's body amidst the dense woods. Despite their diligent efforts, they emerge empty-handed. The sheriff remains skeptical of Wednesday's claim that a monster was the culprit, suspecting instead a student from Nevermore Academy. The principal, however, holds a different opinion, convinced that Rowan had fled and displeased by the sheriff's accusations.

After the sheriff has taken Wednesday's statement, the principal wishes for him to depart, but Wednesday requests a private conversation. The principal eventually grants her wish, stipulating that whatever Wednesday shares must remain off the record. Wednesday reveals her suspicion that someone is attempting to conceal Rowan's death.

Suddenly, an officer barges in, startling everyone, especially Wednesday, as Rowan unexpectedly enters the room, alive and well.

Wednesday – Season 1 Episode 2 1

During her therapy session, the therapist probes Wednesday's reasoning behind her fabricated story of witnessing a murder. Wednesday is adamant that she witnessed Rowan's demise by a mysterious creature, but her words fall on deaf ears. The therapist strives to break through Wednesday's shell, but she remains resolute, refusing to budge or surrender. Post-session, Wednesday encounters Tyler, who is astonished to learn of her mandated therapy sessions. Tyler expresses belief in Wednesday's account of what transpired in the woods before receiving a message and hastily leaving.

Back at school, Wednesday confides in Enid her intention to stay and expose Rowan's secrets. She queries Enid about Rowan's perspective on the situation, but Enid is clueless, suggesting she approach Xavier, Rowan's roommate. Currently, Enid's focus is on the Poe Cup competition, relegating her role as the school's gossip queen to the backseat.

Wednesday attempts to engage Rowan in conversation, but the principal intervenes, informing her that Rowan has been expelled for undisclosed reasons. The principal is also aware of Wednesday's psychic abilities and mentions her mother's visions, inquiring if Wednesday has discussed her own with her mother. Additionally, the principal reminds Wednesday to enroll in an extracurricular activity as mandated by the school, a task she must complete by day's end.

Prior to Rowan's departure the following day, Wednesday assigns Thing the task of keeping a watchful eye on him. She then encounters Bianca, the first person she encountered in the woods after the attack. Wednesday inquiries about what transpired after she lost consciousness, but Bianca offers little assistance.

Later, Wednesday seeks Xavier out at the archery club, seeking insight into his roommate, Rowan. Xavier discloses that Rowan has been on edge in recent weeks and warns Wednesday to steer clear of Tyler. Despite Xavier's warning, Wednesday approaches Rowan before his departure, inquiring about the drawing he made of her during the attack. Rowan claims ignorance, and a teacher drives him to the station, unaware that Thing is tailing him discretely.

At the bustling station, Rowan slipped into the restroom, his youthful student appearance seamlessly shifting to the visage of an aged man. Unfortunately, Thing was caught off guard and missed the startling metamorphosis. Wednesday, displeased, chastised Thing for his oversight.

In the classroom, the atmosphere was charged as Wednesday and Bianca engaged in a knowledge duel, buttons being pushed metaphorically and literally. Meanwhile, Tyler and his father's relationship was strained, their bond fraying with each passing moment. The father accused Tyler of speaking ill of him to his therapist, demanding to know the content of their sessions. Tyler revealed they spoke of his mother, then left, informing his father he would not be home for dinner.

Later, Wednesday approached Enid, asking her to be her lookout while she ventured back into the woods. Enid suggested she apologize to Thing first, and perhaps then she would lend her assistance. Wednesday relented, apologizing sincerely to Thing and confessing her fear that she might be responsible for impending doom. Enid kept her word, assuming Wednesday's identity during her beekeeping club activity.

In the depths of the woods, Wednesday was accompanied by Tyler, who was trailing his father. She revealed her mission: to uncover evidence that Rowan was indeed dead and to quell her doubts about her sanity. She also sought to understand why the mysterious creature had saved her from Rowan. As she picked up Rowan's glasses, a vision unfolded before her eyes.

In the vision, Wednesday witnessed the day the gargoyle almost claimed her life. Rowan emerged as the culprit behind the attack, and she glimpsed the book from which he had drawn the gargoyle's image. Ms. Thornhill informed her that the book belonged to an ancient student society called the Nightshades, a group that had disbanded long ago.

Ms. Thornhill praised Wednesday's performance in the carnivorous plant class and confessed her struggles as a teacher, striving to fit in among her peers. Wednesday admitted she relished being disliked, finding it a badge of honor. Ms. Thornhill counseled her to never let others define her, offering to be a shoulder to lean on whenever needed.

Emboldened, Wednesday sneaked into Xavier and Rowan's room, searching for the elusive book. She stumbled upon a mask but was interrupted by Xavier's return. Quickly hiding beneath the bed, she overheard Xavier's conversation with Bianca. Xavier expressed concern that Rowan might harm Wednesday, while Bianca revealed her plans to sabotage Enid in the upcoming competition, leaving her without a copilot. Enraged, Wednesday vowed to help Enid triumph over Bianca.

The next day, Wednesday and Enid formed an unlikely alliance for the competition. Bianca, unfettered by rules, exploited every advantage. However, during the contest, Wednesday experienced another vision. This time, she saw a mirror image of herself, urging her that she was the key. Wednesday persevered, utilizing Bianca's underhanded tactics against her to secure victory.

After the competition, Wednesday uncovered a crucial clue in the mystery she had been pursuing. She discovered the book that Rowan had used for his drawing in a hidden library within the school. Tragically, she was apprehended before she could escape the room, her journey still fraught with peril and uncertainty.
