Episode 5 of "When The Stars Gossip" kicks off with Ryong awakening from a night of alcoholic revelry, where he had barsted his heart out to Eve, making a spectacle of himself. Transitioning abruptly, the sequence outside the space station is now recast through a comedic prism, a stark contrast that leaves one momentarily discombobulated. However, this retelling provides a deeper glimpse into the previous night's conversation, revealing Ryong's confession that he craved the courage to speak his truth, fearing he'd never find the chance once they returned to Earth's solid ground.

When The Stars Gossip – K-drama Episode 5 1

Come morning, Santi inspects the bottle, noting with satisfaction its depleted state. Meanwhile, Ryong is conspicuously absent from his quarters, instead found loitering outside Eve's door. As she opens it, he picks up right where he left off, jesting that zero gravity must have tampered with his affections and heartstrings.

Eve, swift to respond, labels the entire episode inappropriate and threatens to report it to the Intergalactic Oversight Union (IOU). Though she acknowledges the delicacy of the situation, Ryong takes her by surprise by announcing his intentions to sever ties with the MZ Group and granting her a year to reconsider her stance. She sternly instructs him to curb his feelings for her, even going so far as to dismiss him as unattractive in an attempt to push him away. Undeterred, she vows to delve into the mystery of how alcohol found its way aboard and resolve it.

Ryong seeks out Santi, offering apologies for nearly dragging him into trouble. But Santi, a master at concealing his boozy stash, reveals that he currently houses it in the incubator—one of many clever hiding spots. Understanding the gravity of Eve's discovery, Ryong proposes they relocate the contraband. The stakes have never been higher as they scramble to outsmart her scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Mina finds herself entangled in a telephone conversation with Dona, voicing her apprehensions about entrusting Ryong with the secret of her lottery windfall, fearing he might betray her trust and abscond with the money. Unfortunately, her loud revelations about her newfound wealth inadvertently reach the ears of Seung-jun, who can't help but contemplate the allure of the cash, his thoughts drifting into a personal montage of possibilities. Driven by cupidity, he embarks on a quest to secure the windfall but is interrupted just as Mina is about to confide in Kang-su. A heated dispute ensues, effectively delaying the truth's revelation—at least, for the time being.

Later that evening, Ryong places a call to Go-eun, his voice tinged with regret as he apologizes for hastily announcing their engagement and admits his inadequacy as a partner, both personally and professionally. With a heavy heart, he decides to call off the engagement and abruptly ends the call, leaving Go-eun stunned and reeling. Despite her continued disdain for her father and his underhanded scheme to have Kang-su usurp Ryong's role, she swiftly rebukes him for his sleazy machinations.

Down on Earth, Na Min-jeong is escorted to the Chairman's presence alongside Go-eun. They are informed of the eggs' successful fertilization, a moment the Chairman relishes in, rubbing it in their faces while praising Kang-su's supposed "stellar work." Under public scrutiny, Min-jeong reluctantly concedes to Kang-su's continued leadership and role aboard the ISS. Go-eun is taken aback, but the drama onboard the ISS escalates further. Ryong, now desperate, proposes a deal to Mina: her assistance in saving the eggs in exchange for his silence regarding their existence.

Tragically, Eve finds herself plunged into the worst conceivable predicament when she dials her partner, Park Dong-a, that fateful night. Coincidentally, Dong-a is entangled in bed with his coworker, Tae-hui, and somehow, amidst their intimate entanglement, they manage to jointly answer Eve's call. Eve, witnessing the whole harrowing scene and overhearing Dong-a dismissively remark, "Eve doesn't know much about men," is incensed. She vents her seething frustration in front of Ryong, casting aspersions on men in general, which Ryong mistakenly interprets as a personal attack, sparking a tense, albeit lighthearted, exchange between them. However, the atmosphere thickens considerably when Tae-hui calls back.

Unable to confront the infidelity head-on, Eve deflects the conversation towards alcohol. Tae-hui, seamlessly transitioning back into her professional demeanor, assigns Eve the task of locating a bottle of liquor. Eve, somewhat unnerved by Tae-hui's casualness, is determined to find the alcohol.

As she scavenges for Santi, Eve stumbles upon Kang-su, who has just forwarded the pictures of Jae-ryong's successfully fertilized eggs. The pieces fall into place for Eve, and Kang-su is caught in the act. Realizing this breaches the space code, Eve insists that Kang-su open the incubator door immediately.
