Will Trent – Season 2 Episode 4 1

At the precinct, Amanda briefs Will and Faith about an abduction incident in Mathis. Will remains skeptical about the existence of Boo Hags, whereas Faith stands firm in her belief that it is a malevolent spirit capable of draining souls. Amanda, practical as always, urges them to focus on apprehending a flesh-and-blood perpetrator.

Meanwhile, Michael is thrilled to embark on a new case with Angie, as they delve into the mysterious death of Margarita Royale, a prominent figure among the Ex-Wives of Atlanta. A helpful valet offers crucial information that might hint at foul play.

Their witness, Bradley, recounts to Faith and Will how he and his friends had celebrated Alex and Nicole's admission into Chapel Hill. He vividly describes the Boo Hag's eerie appearance, and Faith reassures him that they will uncover the truth.

The sheriff confides that whenever someone goes missing, the Boo Hag legend inevitably gains traction in the community.

As Faith reviews her notes, she outlines how the Boo Hag supposedly abducted three young people after Nicole ventured behind a tree to relieve herself, only to be met with terror. This narrative is interwoven with Will's haunting flashbacks, pushing him to his limits. He urges Faith to halt her recounting, insisting that Bradley could very well be the suspect and that he refuses to entertain such supernatural hogwash.

She seethes with indignation, for these Gullah-Geechee myths are an inseparable thread in the tapestry of her culture. He offers an apology for his lack of respect, yet contends that alcohol and the cloak of darkness can transform an innocuous bush into a terrifying monster. She concedes his point, albeit reluctantly.

As they venture deeper into their quest for tangible evidence, she uncovers artificial turf, prompting Will to remark on the perpetrator's cunning, yet also noting their haste in tidying up the scene. Will's ears catch a faint cry for help, and in the next instant, something unseen clutches his arm with an icy grip.

RG recounts their valiant yet futile attempt to confront the Boo Hag, emphasizing its overwhelming strength. He reveals how he stumbled, narrowly escaping the Boo Hag and the witch's notice in the chaos. Will, ever the skeptic, remains unconvinced until the sheriff corroborates their tale by mentioning Erica Goodwine, a Geechee woman practicing Hoodoo in their town, urging them to seek her counsel.

Erica's demeanor is sour, resentment lingering in her voice as she rails against their suspicion. She is the last Geechee woman standing in Mathis, a figure shrouded in misconceptions as the root of all evil. Her indifference to Nicole and Alex's disappearance stems from her disdain for the disrespectful antics of youth, who desecrate her ancestors' gravesites with their revelry.

Her alibi for Friday night is flimsy at best, and when Will suggests stationing a deputy to keep an eye on her, she retaliates by casting a hex upon him.

Meanwhile, Michael and Angie review footage from the show, Angie concluding that an interview with the ladies in their natural habitat is imperative. Their encounter reveals them to be just as sharp-tongued and contentious as depicted on screen, with Margarita emerging as the common denominator of discontent among them.

As Amanda checks in with Will and Faith, her calm is interrupted by a menacing phone call from an anonymous source, which she dismisses nonchalantly. Meanwhile, in the confines of his room, Will practices his upcoming conversation with his uncle, his words flowing with trepidation. Nico, overhearing, remarks that it sounds like a legal summons and kindly offers to draft a more formal version for him. Faith, her knock punctuating the silence, enters with congratulations on his newfound uncle status, adding with a smile that the inn’s walls are thin as parchment. She then shares intelligence on other missing persons, revealing that Ken Goddard, who vanished in 2016, remains the sole untraced individual from that year. Just as she concludes, Luke arrives, his curiosity piqued by the case and the presence of Faith. He casually mentions his suite’s amenities, including a luxurious shower, to which Will, mindful of the inn’s paper-thin walls, issues a gentle reminder.

The next morning, the tranquility of the inn is shattered by an unsettling noise, revealing a grim spectacle—dead blackbirds strewn across the walkway. Will acknowledges the unusualness of the scene with a heavy heart. The sheriff soon arrives, and together with Will, they investigate another crime scene at a nearby farm, uncovering the same synthetic turf that ties the incidents together.

Elsewhere, Michael and Angie meet with Brett, the Executive Producer of "The Ex-Wives," at the restaurant where Crystal is employed. Brett, impressed by Michael’s avid fandom, vows to assist them in securing justice for Margarita.

Meanwhile, Faith gleans from Luke that Ken Goddard had a history of frequent absences from school and had once worked alongside Erica Goodwine. This sparks a theory in Faith’s mind—could Ken be Erica’s accomplice? Will, on the other hand, has discovered that the Boo Hag is a malevolent entity that haunts them, realizing they must uncover what haunted Ken and locate him swiftly.

When Luke abruptly dashes out, Faith and Will instinctively follow, believing he’s onto something. As they near the graveyard, Will’s past trauma resurfaces in vivid flashbacks. Faith gently urges him to confront his demons, prompting him to confess his lingering fear of madness, stemming from witnessing his foster father murder his wife in his youth. Luke rejoins them, and the trio stumbles upon a harrowing sight—RJ’s lifeless body near a gravesite, adorned with one of Erica’s feathers, signaling a dark and sinister connection.

Erica firmly rejects any accusation of killing RJ, insisting that she provided Ken with a sanctuary when all others had turned their backs on him. Angie cracks the case of Margarita's murder upon realizing that Shanrita was the one who pushed her, armed with incriminating audio evidence. Shanrita, seeking retribution, pushed Margarita even after Angie had proposed a settlement. Meanwhile, Will and Faith are left reeling from the revelations in Ken's medical records, prompting them to part ways. Will affirms his belief in Erica's innocence regarding RJ's fate but suspects that Ken might be holding Alex captive and needs her assistance. Faith confronts Bradley, demanding to know why RJ sought to confide in a journalist.

Will uncovers the tragic truth of Ken's abusive past and his reclusive life in the cave, seeking solitude. However, on that fateful night, Ken witnessed something and, using the healing methods taught by Erica, restored Nicole and Alex. It is revolting to learn that both Bradley and RJ attempted to rape Nicole, with RJ later seeking redemption by coming clean. In reality, Bradley is the true monster. The narrative concludes with Amanda receiving yet another chilling threat.
