Will Trent – Season 4 Episode 3 1

At the crime scene, Valentina, the landlord, and her son Alex express their concern about the murder's potential impact on the house's market value. They claim that someone emailed Valentina pretending to be an old client, Hans Kessler, and left the door open for him, thinking he would be doing a photoshoot there. Amanda quickly clarifies that they have already verified Kessler's movements and that he was out of the country at the time of the murder.

Trent notices a black light and uses it on the crime scene, revealing more details. He realizes that the killer wanted a photo of the victim dying. Meanwhile, Nico helps Cooper decide if she wants a dog, but her real motive is to get Ormewood to exercise. As they walk, Betty runs to the neighbour's house. They rush to pick up Betty, only to be greeted by a strange couple. The woman claims to be Viggo's niece, while the man rushes inside to fetch Betty. Cooper notices that Betty has bloody paws, and Ormewood knocks on the door again, but this time no one opens it.

Nico finds the whole incident strange since Viggo had previously mentioned that he had no family. At the station, Trent calls in Ava to help them figure out who took the pictures they found at the victims' house. Ava credits the pictures to Crispin Ratner, a known photographer and pervert who is part of the Indie Sleaze revival scene that tries to pass off their sex fetishes as art.

However, his involvement in the game came to an end after numerous models came forward to report him for sexual harassment. It turns out that Chloe, the victim, was the first model to stand up against him. This not only gives Ratner a motive but also makes him aware of everything about the building where Chloe was killed. On the other side of the station, Ormewood enlists Angie to solve Betty's bloody paw case. Although hesitant, Angie agrees, sensing it means a lot to Ormewood. Without a probable cause for a warrant, they return to the house. This time, Viggo answers the door. He seems scared and has a cut on his cheek. He insists he is fine and lies that the couple has left. Angie and Ormewood notice that the couple's car is still outside. Later, Ormewood confides in Angie that he has been feeling tired and incompetent. Angie advises him to give himself some slack and take his recovery slowly. She suggests a stakeout to see what Viggo is hiding. Meanwhile, Trent and Faith visit Ratner to get some answers. He tells them about a wealthy client who pays him good money to take pictures of dead animals. Trent calls in a favor with Ava. She secures invitations to the gallery hosted by Ratner's wealthy client with a death fetish. Sadly, they don't find enough evidence against him.

Still, Trent thinks Gideon might have paid someone to kill Chloe. On the other hand, Faith discovers a list of potential eBay buyers who might have received payment from Gideon. One of the accounts happens to be registered to Alex, the landlord's son. They quickly rush to arrest him, but Alex commits suicide by jumping through the window. His death deeply affects his mom. Trent blames himself for Alex's death, but Faith assures him that it is not his fault. Apparently, Alex took the job because he wanted to take care of his mom's mortgage.

At the house, they find more pictures of Chloe and a few negatives. Trent brings the negatives to Ava's studio and asks her to develop them. While they wait, they have sex. Meanwhile, Faith belatedly realizes that Valentina is gone.

As for Ormewood and Angie, they bring Nico and Betty to the stakeout. They run the couple's car through the system and discover that they are linked to Albanian organized crime and failed to appear at the New York trial. Their discovery finally gives them a motive to search the house. However, Betty is already on it and runs inside. In a surprising twist, they find the couple tied to chairs and Viggo holding them at gunpoint.

Upon spotting the police, Viggo sprints away, leaving Ormewood struggling to keep pace, especially after Viggo's daring theft of a bicycle. In a final burst of energy, Ormewood pushes himself to his limits, nearly collapsing upon finally apprehending Viggo.

Back at Ava's studio, Trent scrutinizes the developed photographs, realizing that Alex had an accomplice. A strange noise draws his attention, and he ventures out to investigate. Meanwhile, Valentina seizes the opportunity to confront Ava, brandishing a gun. She confesses to aiding Alex in Chloe's murder for the sake of financial gain. Fortunately, Faith arrives just in time to distract Valentina, giving Trent the chance to neutralize the threat.

After wrapping up the case, the team celebrates Ormewood's efforts. He reveals that Viggo is under witness protection, having once been a getaway driver for a criminal family and fleeing to escape their clutches. Instead of joining his colleagues for lunch, Ormewood opts for a lunch date with his daughter. Unfortunately, exhaustion overcomes him as soon as he arrives home.

Elsewhere, Nico drops Betty off at Trent's office and heads out for a date. Ava drops by to assure Trent that she doesn't desire anything serious. She promises to call him whenever she's in town. Trent is relieved, knowing he's not ready for a relationship but touched by the picture she took of him.
