Episode 5 of Will Trent season 4 commences with a bank robbery, orchestrated by a group of masked individuals at night. As they engage in their illicit activity, an unsuspecting man, struggling with his ATM transaction, knocks on the window for assistance. However, one of the robbers, in a fit of madness, fatally shoots him. The scene shifts to the following morning, where Ornewood and Angie arrive at the crime scene. Ornewood, now completed with his chemotherapy and feeling rejuvenated, is the first to notice that the robbers had also stolen something from a safety deposit box and changed the locks. He humorously attributes this newfound sharpness to his treatment, joking that he has acquired superhuman powers. Unfortunately, the bank manager is in a state of shock and panic, rendering him unable to provide any further information. They decide to obtain a court warrant to uncover more about the owner of the safety box.

In another part of town, Faith, Trent, and Amanda gather at the morgue to examine the body of their latest case's victim, Jennings, who ran a dating app site. Faith laments her lackluster dating experiences while Amanda and Trent tease her for revealing her name and occupation to her dates. Enraged, Faith leaves to interview Jennings' business partner, Liv. Liv asserts that she last spoke to Jennings about business on the phone and was at a spin class in a local gym at the time of his death. She further claims that no one had any issues with their app or their business.
Faith attempts to probe further but is called out by Liv for being skeptical about love. Liv offers Faith her business card. To Faith's surprise, she already has a date. She arrives early only to find out that her date has texted asking if she could help him get out of a parking ticket. She cancels the date and blocks the guy. In walks Malcolm, a charming Black man. They have a few drinks, dinner, and end up spending the night together.
In the morning, Malcolm reveals that he is not only a millionaire but also owns the hotel and restaurant. He asks for another date but is under the impression that her name is Amanda and that she is an event planner.
At the station, Trent and Amanda take delight in teasing Faith more when they realize she's still wearing the same clothes from before. Her own words, mentioning that she lied about her name and job, provide them with even more ammunition. Meanwhile, Ornewood and Angie continue their investigation, waiting for their warrant to be approved. They delve into similar heists with the same modus operandi and eventually find a lead. This lead leads them to Mishi's tattoo parlor, though unfortunately, it proves to be a dead end.
On the other hand, Haller orders Franklin to help him assemble a stroller for Angie's kid as they continue to work on their case. Trent and Faith's search leads them to a woman named Anna, who was the last person seen with Jennings at a bar. Witnesses claim that Anna was quite angry with the man. However, when they approach her for an interview, Anna runs away, thinking they are assassins hired to kill her. After calming her down, they take her downtown for an interview.
Anna reveals that she was angry because one of the dating app's high-end clients sexually assaulted her. According to her, Brody Evans spiked her drinks and threatened her after he was done. Anna told Jennings about it, and he promised to handle the issue. However, three weeks later, Anna saw a post of Brody at the company's monthly mixer event. Anna went to meet Jennings, but he insisted he didn't know that Brody was at the party and threatened to expose him.
Trent brings in Brody, who shows up with his lawyer. Of course, Brody acts offended by the date rape allegations and insists that he was at a concert during the time of Jennings' death.
Simultaneously, Malcolm dials Faith's number to set up another date. Amanda warns her that she's walking a tightrope, but Faith promises to tell Malcolm the truth if their relationship becomes serious. She then leaves to enjoy a private movie date with him.
Meanwhile, Angie gets a lead on the 'mom' tattoo among the bank robbers. The problem is that the woman has ten children, and they need to narrow down who among them is guilty. The following morning, Franklin, Trent, Faith, Angie, and Ornewood bump into each other on the elevator. Ornewood teases Faith about not sleeping at home lately. The conversation shifts to Ornewood and Angie's case. They finally got the warrant and are on their way to talk to the owner of the safety deposit box. Faith asks to pet Angie's stomach, but for some reason, that upsets Trent.
Angie and Ornewood make their way to the house of the safety deposit box owner, Wyatt. They find him trying to commit suicide in his car and rush him to the hospital. At the hospital, Wyatt confesses that he works for a shady pharmaceutical company. He kept a few classified documents as his insurance policy, but someone from the company found out. Out of fear, he thought it would be better to end his life rather than be tortured. He refuses to talk about the information on the documents until he gets an immunity deal from the D.E.A.
Back at the station, Franklin and Haller present Angie with a gift, although it still needs to be properly assembled. Elsewhere, Trent and Faith realize that Liv was not at the gym the whole time. They run a test and figure out how she killed Jennings and made it back to class just as it ended. It turns out Liv knew that Brody raped Anna. Jennings believed Anna and was going to expose Brody. However, Brody reached out to Liv and paid her $100,000 to get rid of Jennings. In the end, both Brody and Liv are arrested.
At the end of the day, Amanda brings in Trent to help with Ornewood and Angie's case. So far, they know that the bank robbers are an elite crew that has robbed three banks in the past few months. Ornewood narrows down the search to a man named Preston Willis. Trent and Ornewood end up on the same surveillance team watching Preston. As they wait, they talk about Faith's new relationship and Ornewood adjusting to his new body after chemo. Suddenly, Preston appears in full view, but Faith is there with him. The two are having a romantic dinner when it's revealed that sweet, charming Malcolm is a bank robber. Trent calls Faith and warns her, asking her to act normal, and she does. The episode ends with her trying to maintain the clueless act as Malcolm continues to excitedly cook.
