Will Trent – Season 4 Episode 8 1

As they bicker, Caleb receives a call about a body at the drive-in. They arrive to find a young woman, Avery, lying perfectly on the ground with her arms crisscrossed on her chest. Trent spots two puncture wounds on the victim's neck and notes that she died from exsanguination. Another officer begins to question whether they are looking for a vampire. Upon getting a clearer view of the scene, they realize that the victim was positioned in the center of a red pentagram drawn on the floor. However, Trent thinks something is off.

Just then, he gets an alert on his phone that someone is moving his car. He grows even more angered when Caleb mentions that he had his friend safely tow Trent's car. Trent calls him an overstepper!

Trent and Caleb interview the owner of the drive-in, who claims there have been recent theft problems. Their questions quickly lead them to Viktor, who is big on vampirism and has it as his lifestyle. He also didn't show up for his shift, so Trent and Caleb pay him a visit. Viktor discloses that a random man accosted him and hurled a milkshake at him. He returned home to change and is surprised that Avery is dead, believing he is being set up. Trent agrees with Caleb that something is amiss and wants to arrest Viktor. Once again, they argue, and Trent insists that the GBI should take over the case.

The next day, Amanda gets caught up in a robbery while shopping. For a brief moment, she freezes before jumping into action and saving a child. She also shoots and arrests one of the robbers. However, when more officers show up, she locks herself in the changing room. Ormewood finds and helps her through her panic attack.

Meanwhile, Trent video calls Faith and Pete to share the latest. Pete informs them that Avery tragically overdosed on a fentanyl patch before she was drained of blood. With an address found in her belongings, Faith declines to accompany Trent on the case, leaving him no choice but to work with Caleb. They arrive at the address to find Viktor's estranged father draining a boar. It transpires that Viktor had blamed him for choosing a life of crime, which ultimately led to his mother's death. Viktor has been leading everyone to believe that both his parents are deceased. The man, saddened by Avery's death, explains that she had been working on reuniting him with his son, and he had hoped her plan would succeed. He also mentions Avery's issues with Pam, her boss, and her contemplation of quitting her job.

Switching back to Angie and Ormewood's case, they interview the arrested robber while he's high on pain medication. He shares details about his girlfriend, Delphine, and even provides her address. They bring in Delphine, who initially refuses to cooperate. However, when it becomes apparent that she might be charged as an accomplice to the murder of the store's guard, she spills everything she knows about the second robber. The shocking revelation is that she was romantically involved with both robbers, who foolishly gifted her the stolen items. Armed with this new lead, Angie and Ormewood visit the storage unit where the robbers hid their stolen goods. They manage to arrest and bring in the second robber.

Meanwhile, Trent and Caleb discover that Pam is selling fentanyl patches at the drive-in. As they conduct a random search, Pam arrives and starts shooting, thinking they are competitors. Viktor, who was there to report for his shift, gets shot in the arm. Thankfully, it is nothing serious. At the hospital, Landon, his co-worker, shows up to check on him. Viktor mentions that he was returning two film cases and asks him to help store them inside the drive-in. Viktor’s dad also shows up since Caleb listed him as next of kin. Viktor pushes him away, and Trent gets frustrated at Caleb.

As Caleb takes a call from Cynthia, a mom friend, about her son’s game, Trent loses his temper and punches Caleb. A fight ensues as Trent vents his anger at him. Trent admits that he is triggered because Caleb didn’t coach him or be there for him as a kid. He later apologizes for punching him but acknowledges he is not ready to forgive Caleb. The conversation turns to the two film cases Viktor mentioned. Trent remembers seeing three film cases at the drive-in and wonders what’s in the third one. They sneak inside and find something that leads them to the killer, who turns out to be Landon.

Caleb heads back to Viktor’s house since Landon drove him home. Trent remains at the drive-in in case Landon returns. As expected, Landon returns in hopes of destroying the creepy, stalkerish film he made of Avery. It turns out he killed her for rejecting him and then tried to frame Viktor. Speaking of Viktor, Caleb finds him overdosing in his coffin. He quickly administers Narcan and saves his life.

The next day, Trent drops by Viktor’s house to check on him. He is shocked to see that Viktor chose to open his heart to his dad again. It inspires Trent to try the same with Caleb, who apologizes for not knowing about Trent’s existence. He promises to be there for Trent moving forward. Trent admits he has been struggling with the idea of having a father. Although he is not ready to forgive the past, he is ready to get close to Caleb. He insists on having dinner together.

At the station, Amanda opens up about her PTSD to Ormewood, who gets what she is going through. He tells her his story, and she realizes that she made it through her attack. It is a good breakthrough, but Appleyard is not going to let up on Amanda anytime soon!
