Post-broadcast, the atmosphere shifts as Nick and Mel confront the aftermath of their disastrous party. Nick isn't thrilled with Mel's abrupt departure, but she contritely strives to mend fences. Their conversation leads them into a dressing room, where passions ignite and they lose themselves in a tender embrace.

Elsewhere, Coop harbors ambitions to elevate his lifestyle by selling some of his paintings. Initially, Lu remains indifferent to his proposition. However, Coop's scheme to swap a genuine painting for a fake and make a swift getaway with the original piques her interest. Valued at a cool million, Lu demands a larger slice of the pie and offers to connect him with buyers who can make the deal happen.

Back at his place, Coop finds himself entangled in another passionate encounter with Samantha, but she's contemplating an end to their affair. Weighed down by the thought of "riding until the wheels come off" and influenced by Mel's words, she decides it's time to sever ties. She believes Coop isn't ready for a commitment and offers him an easy escape without guilt. Coop is taken aback but seems relatively unruffled, spending the evening watching movies with Ali.

Meanwhile, Barney grapples with gardening woes that could cost him a whopping $200,000 due to unforeseen complications. Oblivious to their looming financial crisis, Grace remains eager to press ahead with their plans. Matters worsen when Barney's in-laws arrive for dinner. Their disapproval over Barney's failure to learn Korean casts a palpable pall over the gathering, making for an excruciatingly awkward evening.

Despite this, she still feels unhappy with Barney, reminding him that Grace is not his client and even half-jokingly suggesting that he work for Grace's father's company. Yet, her gesture couldn't help but come across as a veiled bribe, especially considering the check she handed him was for an astonishing $1 million. That very night, a drunken Barney, fueled by anger and confusion, lit the check on fire outdoors. Unfortunately, in his drunken state, he had also doused the area with alcohol, resulting in an unexpected conflagration that nearly consumed the entire vicinity – until he managed to extinguish it.

Elsewhere, Hunter found himself unexpectedly ensnared in a school drug ring, his own Adderall unwittingly used by his peers for recreational purposes. This incident came to light when faculty members caught the group in the act, leading to Hunter's suspension. This was hardly his first brush with trouble that year; his academic performance had been slipping, and he had already found himself in a series of disciplinary situations. Coop was taken aback by the news, having missed all the earlier meetings and unaware of the severity of Hunter's struggles. The only way to keep Hunter enrolled was to fork out a staggering $240,000.

Elena and Coop arrive at the art gallery, where they are introduced to Christian, the man tasked with facilitating the sale of their painting. He readily agrees to assist them and, subsequently, Coop accompanies Elena to execute their plan. They seamlessly switch the painting, making off with the genuine article. Christian, thoroughly impressed, invites them out to celebrate their successful venture at a trendy club. His eccentric demeanor becomes even more pronounced as he indulges in cocaine alongside Elena and Coop.

However, the mood shifts dramatically in the club's secluded area when Christian attempts to make unwanted advances towards Elena. His aggression culminates in forcing himself on her, prompting Coop to intervene. In the ensuing chaos, Coop deploys pepper spray, leading to a complete breakdown of their arrangement and the loss of the painting deal. Elena is understandably furious.

Desperation sets in for Coop, leading him to make an impromptu visit to Samantha's place that very night in search of quick cash. It is here that we reconnect with the harrowing scenes from the opening of Episode 1. Coop slips on a pool of blood that spans the floor, the camera slowly revealing the deceased body of Paul, Samantha's estranged husband. Alas, the situation is poised to deteriorate even further!

As Coop hastily washes his bloodstained clothes in the washing machine, he stands under the shower, his mind racing with contemplation over his next course of action.
