In the seventh episode of Your Friends & Neighbors season 2, Coop is seen in the midst of setting up his Excelsior fund, signing on the dotted line as he ignores calls from Elena. Back at home, he eventually picks up her call and she shows up at his doorstep. Concerned about his father's well-being, Elena also wants to hit another house that weekend and get the ball rolling on their stealing gig. However, Coop is actually heading out East to the Hamptons, where Owen Ashe is hosting an event.

Coop eventually opens up about what's happening, including Ashe's blackmail and why he's been evasive most of this season. He also brings up how their money is tied up with the gyms and how she can't get any funds right now either. So, with Elena okay with it for now, all the boys show up... but Grace is also here to spoil the party. The lads aren't exactly enthused, and Coop is also a little concerned because all this drama with the gyms has caused him to miss his latest child support payment too.
As all the guys (and Grace) head out to the Hamptons for the weekend, Coop bumps into Sam there. It's an awkward encounter, especially as Sam offers her condolences regarding his dad. They're all interrupted by Ashe though, who reveals to Nick that their team has finished the review of his gyms and are happy to move forward. However, the caveat here is that the infrastructure and accounting side of things will be swallowed up and handled by Ashe's team.
That makes their plan to use the gym's finances to launder their money a bit difficult. Ashe's lawyer, Luc DeMille, shows up in the middle of this and pulls him aside, where trouble is brewing outside. The FBI show in their numbers and begin searching the place, taking off with a couple of boxes. Ashe shrugs it off as just part and parcel of having a large net worth, but the others are a bit concerned and contemplate leaving.
While everybody gets ready for the party, Sam notices Ashe's office has been searched, with papers all over the floor. She gets nosy and decides to look through the drawers... just as Ashe shows up. The tension in the air is palpable as Sam's curiosity meets Ashe's disapproval, setting the stage for a potentially explosive confrontation in the coming episodes of Your Friends & Neighbors.
He doesn't begrudge her a peek, though, and urges Sam to be honest and open with him. Apparently, the FBI agent shouting in front is a man named Mohler who's out to nail Owen Ashe for maritime crime. On top of the other goods he ferries internationally, Sam manages to extract from him that he also ships weapons. She's not happy when she finds out!
After a swim on the beach, Ashe confronts Coop with Luc DeMille, his lawyer. They want Coop to handle more of his money, in exchange for a 5% cut. This isn't really an offer, and Coop is basically forced into it for fear of something far worse happening to him - or his family. That's not the only threat he gets, as Grace also threatens him, knowing something is going on, given the paper bag of money and the drama with Ashe.
Back inside, Ashe finds Sam crying in one of the rooms. He consoles her and they talk, but that quickly escalates as they start kissing. The pair decide not to pursue this further, leaving it hanging in the balance.
Meanwhile, Mel's subplot this week sees her and Ali concoct a scheme to prank their next-door neighbors with a porta-potty. It doesn't go as planned, and Mel winds up arrested for her efforts. When she's put behind bars, she also finds Tori in the cell opposite, arrested for driving and crashing a car.
With Coop needing to head home, Grace is the one who winds up driving him back. After getting the girls out from behind bars, Coop notices a car watching his house from down the road. He heads over to take a closer look, and the car speeds off.
