Meanwhile, Eugene hoards cash beneath his bed, while Trey pleads for Sheila's assistance from the confines of his jail cell. She, however, remains steadfast, refusing his entreaties. Little Mo calls Eugene, entrusting him to safeguard a bag until his return from New Orleans. The next morning, Roderick unexpectedly appears at the house, demanding information about Trey. Sheila, oblivious to the brewing drama, is left in the dark as he forcibly rummages through Eugene's belongings.

Rosie outfits Michael at her tailor's shop, appointing him as her surrogate eyes at the party. Jimmy, financially overextended, appears to be seeking an escape route. Sheila receives a call from Monique, breaking a decade of silence. Monique beseeches Sheila's assistance to reach Little Mo, but Sheila has had her fill of aiding Monique's sordid affairs.

Michael extends an invitation to Charlie for the birthday celebration. Charlie's complexion pales when Michael mentions Jimmy Baxter, but his mention of the grandchild persuades Charlie to reconsider his attendance. Jimmy also extends an invitation to Fia. Sheila confronts the boys in jail, scolding Little Mo for bringing trouble to her doorstep. He pleads with her to secure his release, promising to handle the fallout. Roderick, meanwhile, has been tailing Sheila since the crack of dawn.

Carlo approaches the concierge at Jimmy's party, flaunting his silver tongue and flirting shamelessly. Gina intervenes, steering him away and admonishing him not to settle for common girls. She tasks Carlo with tightening security, her nerves jangling in anticipation of the festivities. She implores Carlo to remain close to Jimmy, even if he feels neglected amidst the hubbub.

Fia visits Michael's house, urging him to steer clear of the Baxter clan. She professes her trust in Michael and her care for him. Michael, realizing that he resembles Saddam Hussein as Rosie's tailor had jestingly pointed out, asks Fia to trim his hair. Monique enlists the aid of a corrupt cop on her payroll to secure Little Mo's release, but he balks at the request.

Michael arrives at the party, greeted warmly by Jimmy and Fia. He sends a message to Charlie, unaware that Gina's unease is brewing. Gina confronts Michael, demanding that he keep his distance from her family when Carlo mentions Michael's visit to Fia. Carlo discovers that he has been bugged and retrieves the device, eliciting an annoyed grunt from Rosie.

Charlie suddenly appears, eager to meet the newborn baby, coincidentally as Jimmy prepares to slice the celebratory cake. Jimmy rises to his feet, addressing the assembled guests with heartfelt gratitude for their presence. He speaks of the bittersweet nature of time, a tapestry of joy and sorrow, loss and renewal, leaving him alternately blessed and burdened. Then, in a startling revelation, he officially welcomes Michael into the fold of his family.

Jimmy proudly announces the arrival of Rocco and introduces Michael to the guests, thrusting him into the spotlight. Charlie, not far off, is drawn into the limelight as well. Jimmy asks him to assume the role of Rocco's godfather, and Charlie can only nod in assent. He then introduces the pair to Carmine Conti, his father-in-law, the reason behind their unexpected appearance at the party. Jimmy seeks Carmine's financial support, knowing him to be a man of influence.

Little Mo is released from captivity and collected by Monique's men. He urgently calls Eugene, urging him to flee their shared abode. Gina voices her concerns about the uncertain future of their family, but Carmine assures her that he will stand by their side. Michael is stunned to learn that Carmine, once thought dead, has been living in obscurity on an Italian island, shunning New Orleans since the '90s. Fia apologizes profusely to Michael and Charlie for Jimmy's unexpected announcement.

Charlie departs, leaving Michael and Fia alone to speak candidly. Michael insists he doesn't want to become entangled in the family's affairs, but Fia, emotional, insists he is part of their family. Jimmy watches jealously as Michael and Fia embrace. Meanwhile, Little Mo arrives at the house to find Sheila weeping, surrounded by chaos and missing money. Russell contacts Monique, who reveals that Eugene stands before her, clutching the stolen funds. It seems he has chosen his fate, embracing his troubled past as Eugene once again.

Frankie escorts Michael to a secluded spot and searches him thoroughly, but to no avail. The bug is missing, a testament to Michael's cunning. Frankie lashes out in frustration, and Jimmy steps into the fray. He scolds Michael for his closeness to Fia, accusing him of trying to steal another of his children. Michael remains unfazed by the gun pointed at him and dares Jimmy to do as he wishes. Jimmy is perplexed and enraged by Michael's persistent presence in his family's life. Michael confesses that he once intended to end his life, explaining his early release from prison. He pleads with Jimmy to pull the trigger, but Jimmy cannot bring himself to do it.
