Meanwhile, Michael sneaks into Jimmy's office, offering the former judge a ride in a bid to keep tabs on him. Carlo drives the two men, and as they bond over baby Rocco, Jimmy narrowly misses spotting the incriminating messages Michael exchanges with Olivia about their plan to bring him down.

Little Mo rejects Chris's harebrained plan to join the uprising against Monique, warning him that his rebels will be crushed if they proceed. Jimmy and Michael share a heartfelt moment at the construction site for the Jimmy Baxter District, their mutual respect for each other shining through as they vow not to let their feud poison Fia's life. Unbeknownst to them, their actions protect each other by shielding Fia from the ugliness of their feud.

The Prosecutor presents his case with a veneer of righteousness, declaring that Eugene's actions constitute a clear-cut case of murder. He argues that Eugene, motivated by revenge for his brother Kofi's death, killed Carlo and then accidentally shot Adam at the party. Lee counters with a fiery opening argument, lambasting the State's desperation and confusion in their handling of the case. She points out the inconsistencies in their narrative, from declaring Eugene dead to trying to assassinate him in broad daylight, and now charging him with murder. She scathingly points out that all the witnesses in the case have a personal vendetta against Eugene, their problems disappearing if he disappears. Eugene places his faith in the jury, trusting that justice will prevail.

Lee's legal acumen is on full display as she meticulously dismantles the credibility of the witnesses and evidence before the jury. Gina's testimony is particularly damning, but Lee dismantles it with logic and precision. Gina claims to have seen Eugene raise the gun and point it at Carlo, but Lee counters by grilling her on Carlo's mysterious presence in the Orleans Parish Prison. She questions the suspicious circumstances surrounding Carlo's transfer to Kofi's cell, despite his violent past. Lee asks Gina, if she really saw Eugene and was such a devoted mother, why didn't she leap in front of the gun to protect Carlo? The silence that follows is deafening, a silent admission of Gina's lies.

Jarek, overwhelmed by the prospect of losing the case, urgently petitioned the judge to summon Michael as a witness. Lee, however, fiercely objected, prompting a heated debate within the judge's chambers. The judge, seeking clarity, requested both parties to submit detailed memos, promising to render a decision on the motion subsequently.

Michael, mindful of the Calabri family's influence in the District, hesitated to become entangled in the matter. Himmy, in his defense, asserted that they had merely provided the capital and did not represent the Baxter name. Michael's rhetorical musings delved into the complexities of identity, pondering over the struggle to decipher who we truly are amidst the desires of who we wish to become. He opined that the ultimate test of a family lies not in loyalty, but in sacrifice. If Michael had acquiesced to Jimmy's murderous intent at the Mariana, Adam's life might have been spared.

After declining Jimmy's offer, Michael rode home with Carlo. The cunning old horse cleverly manipulated the inexperienced youngster, extracting crucial information about the Calabris' covert drug smuggling operations within containers. The Baxters, however, professed ignorance of these illegal activities.

Roderick arrived to deal with Chris and his rebellious followers, but Little Mo's betrayal caught him off guard. Monique emerged from behind the containers, her presence a surprise. "Blood is blood," Little Mo declared, explaining that he could never betray his auntie. Unable to shoot Chris, Monique intervened, bringing an abrupt end to the uprising. Monique's resolve was unwavering; even if she were to leave Desire someday, it would be by her own volition.

Fia stormed into Jimmy's room, her demeanor demanding. She made it abundantly clear that if he did not reveal the truth at that moment, he would never see her again. Jimmy, realizing the gravity of the situation, acquiesced. Fia grilled him about the nature of his dealings, but she showed no interest in the question of whether Jimmy was responsible for the Jones family's demise. Jimmy pleaded innocence, chalking it up to a gas leak. Fia informed him that he was under investigation, revealing that she had met with an Assistant United States Attorney. She urged him to sever his ties with the Calabris.

Janelle's relationship with Monique reached its breaking point. She announced their breakup, explaining that they were toxic for each other. Olivia, having discarded Michael, received a call from Charlie informing her that Jimmy had backed out of the deal due to his inability to arrange the funds. This meant that he had terminated his business relationship with the Calabris.

Lee visited Michael's house, pleading with him to perjure himself on the stand to protect Eugene. But Michael, steadfast in his principles, refused her offer. What he would ultimately do remained to be seen, leaving the story hanging on a tense note.
