Dara Nikolaeva Toyova, the Bulgarian Eurovision winner, reflects on the "doubt and anxiety" that engulfed her before she embarked on Europe's grandest musical competition. In an interview with the media following her triumphant victory, the 27-year-old candidly confessed that she initially had her doubts about participating in the Eurovision Song Contest. "In the beginning, I was uncertain whether I should come or not, plagued by anxiety and self-doubt," she quoted by The Independent.

In the same breath, she expressed gratitude towards her husband for encouraging her to join the competition and for pushing her past her hesitation. Despite her initial uncertainty, Toyova went on to triumph in the contest held in Vienna, Austria, on Saturday, May 16th. She performed the song "Bangaranga" and amassed a total of 516 points at the Wiener Stadthalle venue.

Her victory not only secured her the title of Bulgaria's first-ever Eurovision winner but also left a lasting impression on the competition. Israel's Noam Bettan secured second place with 343 points, while Romania's Alexandra Căpitănescu rounded off the top three with 296 points.
