Could Jeremy Renner reprise his role as William Brandt in "Mission: Impossible"? The actor, who starred alongside franchise star Tom Cruise in "Ghost Protocol" (2011) and "Rogue Nation" (2015), hinted at a potential return in a recent interview with Collider.

Renner reminisced about his decision to depart from the action-packed franchise, revealing, "I was meant to have a bigger role in the series. I adore the cast and Tom particularly. We had so much fun filming, and I cherish my character deeply. However, it requires a significant amount of time away from home, primarily filmed in London. As a father, I had to prioritize my family, and it just didn't align with my schedule then."

But now, nearly a decade later, Renner expressed his eagerness to reprise the role of Brandt. He shared, "Perhaps with my daughter growing up, the timing could be right for a return. I'd leap at any opportunity to jump back into the 'Mission: Impossible' universe and reprise my role as Brandt. It's such a great franchise."

At the conclusion of "Rogue Nation," Brandt made the decision to retire from his duties in the Impossible Mission Force. Unlike some other characters in the franchise, Brandt left alive, making a comeback even more plausible.

The eighth and untitled "Mission: Impossible" film is currently scheduled for release in 2025. Although it was initially believed to be the franchise's swan song, director Christopher McQuarrie - who has helmed the last two installments - revealed last year that future films are still on the cards.

Renner, widely recognized for portraying Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has made a triumphant return to acting following a snow plow accident in January 2023 that left him with severe chest trauma and 30 broken bones. Currently, he stars in Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ series "Mayor of Kingstown," whose third season premieres on June 2.
