Pedro Pascal faced some stiff competition when it came to donning the mantle of Reed Richards, alias Mister Fantastic. During a lively exchange at MCM Comic Con, David Tennant was inquisitively grilled by an eager fan about which superhero role he would fancy playing on the silver screen. To everyone's amusement, the Doctor Who legend revealed that his sights had been set on the very same character that Pascal eventually secured in Marvel's highly anticipated film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
"As far as superheroes go, I did have my heart set on Reed Richards," Tennant confessed with a hint of good-natured disappointment. "Unfortunately, it seems they chose a different path. But honestly, if anyone had to take it, I'm thrilled it's Pedro Pascal."
Slated for release on July 25th, The Fantastic Four: First Steps boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. In this epic tale, the Fantastic Four must rise up to protect Earth from the voracious space deity, Galactus, and his mysterious Herald, the Silver Surfer, all while navigating the delicate balance between their heroic duties and the unbreakable bond of their family.
Switching gears during the engaging MCM Comic Con conversation, the moderator couldn't resist asking Tennant if he had caught wind of the viral Vanity Fair lie detector test video, where Pascal playfully dubbed himself "the bigger daddy" compared to Oscar Isaac. After acknowledging that he was yet to view it, she teasingly inquired, "So, who would you say is the bigger daddy—you or Pedro Pascal?"
With a playful grin, the Broadchurch actor quipped, "What exactly constitutes being the 'bigger daddy'?" He then added, "Well, in this context, it's undoubtedly him. He's Mister Fantastic, after all, in every conceivable way. I think Pedro Pascal is fantastic, and I'm genuinely delighted he's part of our world."
