Breathing fresh chills into the realm of horror, the teaser trailer for the first "Final Destination" film in a decade and a half has reinvigorated the iconic franchise. Warner Bros. has unveiled the inaugural promotional spot for "Final Destination Bloodlines," poised to thrill audiences in theaters and IMAX come May 16th. Helmed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, this sixth installment under the New Line banner follows the footsteps of "Final Destination 5," which premiered in August 2011 and was last seen gracing the silver screen.
"Final Destination Bloodlines" revolves around Stefanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), a determined individual on a quest to uncover the lone individual who holds the key to halting the relentless cycle that has claimed the untimely lives of her kin. Joining her on this chilling journey are Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and the late, great Tony Todd.
In a heart-stopping moment from the trailer, a tattoo artist played by Harmon complains, "My old man just died, I came in as a favor, and now they want me to lock up." His words are soon echoed by a harrowing twist of fate within the tattoo parlor.
Written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, the film is directed by Lipovsky and Stein, with Jon Watts receiving story credit. The producing team comprises Watts, Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich.
It all began with director James Wong's groundbreaking 2000 film "Final Destination," which centered on a teenage protagonist (Devon Sawa) who, upon receiving a premonition of a plane crash, saves his classmates from impending doom—only to witness their gruesome demises unfold in unexpected ways. Starring alongside Ali Larter and Kerr Smith, the original "Final Destination" amassed $112 million at the global box office (equivalent to $205 million today).
Now, with "Final Destination Bloodlines," the franchise is set to terrorize once more, weaving a tale as captivating as it is chilling.
