The Devil Wears Prada 2's Release Date Has Been Revealed—And It's Sooner Than You Think

Now, this is truly a milestone. Nearly two decades after the debut of "The Devil Wears Prada," Disney has set May 1, 2026, as the release date for a sequel to the cult classic starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, according to numerous reports. Last year, rumors circulated that Streep and Blunt would reprise their roles as Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton, respectively; however, neither they nor Hathaway have officially confirmed their participation in this highly anticipated continuation of the 2006 film.

Yet, this doesn't necessarily imply that the original cast isn't eager to slip back into their Chanel boots. Indeed, Stanley Tucci, who portrayed Miranda's often-overlooked art director Nigel Kipling, told E! News in October that he would "jump at the chance to revisit it." He elaborated, "It was an incredible experience, wasn't it? My hope is that, if it happens—obviously, we'd need to sort out all the logistics—but it would be a joy for everyone involved."

Echoing Tucci's sentiments, Blunt expressed her enthusiasm during the Red Sea International Film Festival in December, asserting that she and her former costars "would all be thrilled" to reunite. In fact, at the 2024 SAG Awards, Blunt joined Streep and Hathaway on stage, playfully teasing them as they presented the award for Male Actor in a Comedy Series. With a wink and a nod to a iconic line from Streep's character, Blunt quipped, "By all means, take your time," while the three-time Oscar winner opened the envelope, responding with a grin, "You know that excites me."

As for the plot of "The Devil Wears Prada 2," Disney is guarding the storyline details more fiercely than an unpublished "Harry Potter" manuscript. Nonetheless, Lauren Weisberger, the author of the novel upon which the original film was based, did publish her own sequel titled "Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns" in 2016. Two years later, she released "When Life Gives You Lululemons," a second sequel centered around Emily, rather than Hathaway's character Andy Sachs.

So, how does Weisberger feel about a movie sequel? "That would be fantastic," she told Teen Vogue in 2016. "I can't think of anything better, and I would be the first one on board."
