Disney's beloved cop buddy film Zootopia 2 is causing quite a stir, smashing numerous box-office records and earning a coveted Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If you haven't yet indulged in this cinematic delight, now's your chance. And if you've already watched it, be sure to stay seated until the very end, as the post-credits scene holds an intriguing surprise.

What’s Up with Zootopia 2’s Post-Credits Scene? Creators Explain 1

As the film comes to a close, we see our beloved Judy Hopp back in her apartment, playing and replaying Nick's message from her carrot-shaped pen record, "Love ya, Partner." Her neighbors are undoubtedly irritated by the repeated playback, but she pauses the recorder pen, sets it aside, and leaves the room. As the final credits roll, a feather floats down near the pen and blows away.

Why is this moment so poignant? Well, as we've journeyed through Zootopia, we've encountered mammals and reptiles, but never birds. This feather could be a sign that Disney isn't done with Hopps and Nick yet, and they may be preparing to introduce birds into Zootopia's universe.

The co-director of the sequel, Jared Bush, hinted at this possibility in a conversation with ScreenRant. He said, "I think there are limitless numbers of stories to tell in the world of Zootopia. When audiences see this scene, I hope it inspires them to wonder what it could mean and what mysteries may lie ahead. I think it's something we'd love to explore."

With Zootopia 2's chart-busting success and Disney's relentless sequel frenzy, a third follow-up seems almost inevitable – and that would be for the best.
