Kim Kardashian's acting career may soon face a pivotal crossroads, according to a source close to the 45-year-old multitasking star. With the critical reception of "All's Fair" leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of critics, a second season or any other scripted TV projects she envisions in the coming years hang in the balance—all depending on the audience's response.

While the legal drama managed to attract 3.2 million viewers within three days of its streaming debut, making it Hulu Originals' biggest scripted series launch in three years, the overall numbers have been described as "merely OK" by our source. "A second season order seems unlikely at this moment," they note, emphasizing that "a significant surge in audience numbers between now and Christmas would be necessary for its survival."

Even before the Ryan Murphy-created series premiered on November 4, Kardashian playfully hinted at her desire to return for another round of episodes alongside co-stars Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor, and Sarah Paulson. However, as our source points out, "All's Fair is a heavily budgeted show with a plethora of producers and personalities beyond Kim herself. If it somehow manages to secure a second season, the show would have to reel in its budget and trim its ensemble."

As it stands, Kardashian is set to embark on her next project—a Netflix movie titled "The Fifth Wheel" directed by another heavyweight in the industry, Eva Longoria—in January. "Kim may be a sure thing in reality TV, but as far as scripted content goes, she needs to demonstrate that she can excel at a financially responsible and profitable project," adds our source. "She hasn't yet proven her mettle with 'All's Fair.'"
