Alexander Skarsgård is clarifying a few things. During a discussion about his new film "Pillion," which he stars in as a biker who starts a BDSM relationship with a young man played by Harry Melling from "Harry Potter," at the Zurich Film Festival in October, the "True Blood" veteran reflected on the film's plot and his own experiences. "I found that in this case," he said at the time, according to Variety, "it's not really relevant what my background is."

"What I've done in the past, who I've been with - men, women," Alexander continued, "to me, what was important was that this felt like an opportunity to tell a story about a subculture I hadn't seen portrayed this way - with so much authenticity."
The 49-year-old's choice of words led to many questions about his sexuality, which he was asked to clarify. "That it resonated with my past?" Alexander told Variety in an interview published on Jan. 20th, when asked about his previous remark. "It was definitely not an intended statement. I don't know what I was talking about."
"Maybe it has to do with - there's a lot of focus sometimes on me as an actor," he added. "Maybe it was trying to shift the focus more to the story and these characters. And the importance of telling the story like this."
And while Alexander - the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård - has often been coy when it comes to discussing his personal life, the Emmy winner did get candid about how welcoming a child with Swedish actress Tuva Novotny has changed the way he approaches his career.
"I lived on the road," he told Variety about his life before parenthood. "I love that aspect of the industry - you're a traveling circus." But now, Alexander said, "I need to balance that with family life and making sure I can be present for my kid." He added, "I can't be as selfish and narcissistic as I was before."
