Colman Domingo Reveals He Almost Accidentally Joined a Cult

Colman Domingo has crossed paths with an array of intriguing personalities throughout his life, ranging from apocalyptic zombies to, surprisingly, an enchanting ensemble of cult followers. The esteemed actor from "Euphoria" recently unveiled a harrowing tale of how he narrowly escaped the clutches of an anonymous cult during a vacation earlier this year. "I almost joined a cult in Mexico City, but that's a tale for another time," Colman recounted during his August 19th guest appearance on Josh Scherer's "Last Meals." "They seemed like a delightful bunch initially, but then I thought, 'Hold on, this is bizarre,'" he elaborated.

In his defense, the 55-year-old actor emphasized that this was his maiden encounter with a cult. While Colman refrained from disclosing the exact circumstances of their meeting, he made a swift decision to sever ties with the group once their initially charming demeanor took a peculiar turn. "I remember thinking, 'What's really going on here with you folks?'" he reflected on the harrowing moment. "But as I delved deeper into researching them, I realized, 'Oh, this is indeed a cult,'" he clarified.

Intriguingly, Josh could relate to Colman's ordeal, having had a recent brush with another unnamed cult himself. "I was on the verge of engaging with a cult just the other day, and they tried to recruit me," the host confessed during the episode, according to People magazine. "I politely declined, but they insisted, 'No, I think you really should consider it.' I responded, 'Stay away from cults, man. Don't be the one who gets too chatty with strangers,'" he recounted.

Despite their less-than-ideal encounters with these cults, Colman—who is happily married to Raúl Domingo—still holds firm to the belief in the importance of connecting with diverse communities. "I reside in a secluded area, primarily for privacy reasons," the "Sing Sing" star clarified. "However, I make a conscious effort to workout at a bustling gym frequented by many. It's not a private facility. How can one possibly weave narratives about humanity and people without immersing oneself amidst them?" he pondered thoughtfully.
