David Bowie and Iman’s Daughter Lexi Jones Clarifies Her Parents’ Role in Rehab Stint

Lexi Jones is clearing the air. Less than two weeks after she shared a video detailing her battle with drug and alcohol addiction and the treatment centers she entered at age 14, the now-25-year-old daughter of the late musician David Bowie and model Iman addressed what she described as "a lot of interpretations."

"My story was never meant to place blame on my parents," Lexi wrote on Instagram Feb. 27. "I love my parents deeply and I don't hold resentment toward them. They were trying to help a child who was struggling in ways none of us fully understood at the time."

Indeed, she explained that it was never her plan to "create a narrative of family conflict." "What I was trying to talk about was the experience of being a young person inside the teenage treatment system and how it feels while it is happening," the singer continued. "Those feelings can exist at the same time as love for the people who were trying to help you."

She added, "I'm not asking anyone to speculate about my family or assign fault to anyone in my life. My intention is conversation and understanding about a system, not judgment of individuals."

Since sharing her original video, where she detailed facing her "deepest turmoils, triggers, and traumas" while in treatment, Lexi noted that she has connected with others who felt seen by her reflections. "Hearing from others who related has already shown me the message reached who it was meant to reach," she shared. "I spoke about something that shaped me in hopes someone else might feel less alone in theirs."
