Jenna Johnson has taken to task an online troll who harshly criticized her two-year-old son. The 31-year-old "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancer narrated the incident through her Instagram Stories on July 5th, Saturday. She had recently posted a snapshot of herself with her toddler son, Rome, who was seen sipping from a bottle. A woman responded to this picture with a vicious comment, stating, "Way too old for this fat rascal to have a bottle."
Johnson captioned a screenshot of the comment, writing, "[I'm] perfectly fine with receiving constructive advice from fellow moms, and I'm usually open to feedback to some extent. But this woman, whose profile picture is of her holding her own baby, deemed it fit to send me this message via direct message." She continued, "What kind of world are we living in? I realize that I put my life out there for the public to see, which I genuinely want to reconsider after receiving such rude and hurtful messages about my baby."
"Furthermore, you are a mother yourself!" Johnson exclaimed. "Would you appreciate it if a complete stranger sent you such a message about your child, merely because he's drinking from a bottle? What in the world is going on here?"
The TV personality further emphasized that while she usually cherishes her social media community, "enough is enough with the deplorable trolls and bullies here." She concluded, "Please unfollow me immediately and respectfully go live your own life."
On July 6th, Sunday, Johnson posted a follow-up message, expressing gratitude to her fans for their overwhelming support following her initial post. "I couldn't help but shed tears while reading all your messages," she began. "My heart was genuinely shattered yesterday to witness how cruel and vicious some people can be. But, once again, I was reminded of the immense love, support, and kindness that this little community of mine offers. You guys embodied everything I believe in!"
"Let's remember that we're all human, doing our best to navigate through life," she added. "I promise to strive to spread only positivity and light through my deeds and hope you feel inspired to do the same."
Johnson shares Rome with her husband, fellow "DWTS" trainer Valentin Chmerkovskiy. The couple tied the knot in April 2019 and welcomed their son in January 2023. During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 12th Annual Makeup Artists & Hairstylists Guild Awards on February 15th, the duo hinted that little Rome might just follow in their footsteps someday. "He adores dancing and singing. He's a natural performer," Chmerkovskiy, 39, shared.
