Ellen DeGeneres is returning to her iconic blonde roots, a year after she debuted her transformation into a gray-haired icon. On December 27, in Montecito, California, she swapped her dark pixie cut for her signature bleached-blonde hue, debuting her spiky yellow locks in a stylish outfit of blue jeans, a white T-shirt, a green jacket, and off-white sneakers.

Since the 67-year-old moved to England with her wife Portia de Rossi in spring 2024, she has made a few appearances in California. In fact, it was her trip back to the seaside town last January that shocked fans with her new gray 'do. Ellen had kept the dark color for months, even attending the unveiling of Restoration Hardware Paris alongside her wife in September with the look.

This marks a new chapter in the comedian's life as she and Portia continue to embrace their roots in England. Most recently, the couple sold their $30 million Cotswold estate for a nearby home that better suits Portia's animals. "When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn't live without her horses," Ellen told The Wall Street Journal in a July statement. "We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them."

Since Ellen and Portia bid farewell to their Montecito mansion, a decision they attributed to President Donald Trump's re-election, they've been loving life in England. "Portia's living her dream riding her horse through the English countryside and into the village," Ellen wrote on Instagram in August. "Gosh, I hope she comes home soon."

Ellen—who had been accused of and apologized for fostering a toxic work environment at The Ellen DeGeneres Show before its May 2022 cancellation—has no regrets about their move either. "It's absolutely beautiful," the Need Your Approval star told broadcaster Richard Bacon during a live conversation in July, according to The BBC. "We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture - everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life."
