Even though Mike White isn't gracing the Emmys 2025 with his presence, he's undoubtedly basking in a life of utmost comfort. After all, Parker Posey, who brought to life the wealthy housewife Victoria Ratliff in the third season of the acclaimed HBO series, revealed exclusively to Live From E!: 2025 Emmys correspondent Heather McMahan at the September 14 award ceremony that the showrunner is "currently soaking up the sun in the south of France, and that's precisely where season four is set to unfold." However, the 56-year-old actress, who earned a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her stellar work on the HBO series, admitted that the fate of her character remains uncertain. As she candidly put it about the upcoming season, "I'm completely in the dark about whether I'll be part of it."
So far, each season of The White Lotus has whisked viewers away to a fictitious hotel in a distinct and alluring location—starting with the sun-kissed shores of Hawaii in season one, followed by the romantic vistas of Italy and the exotic allure of Thailand in its second and third installments, respectively. But earlier this year, the producers dropped hints that season four might be a return to a continent the show has previously explored.
"We're embarking on some location scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we'll have a clearer picture soon," Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming, told Deadline in February. "I can't spill the beans on where we'll end up just yet, but there's a good chance it'll be somewhere in Europe."
In addition to a change in scenery, the dramedy might also be bidding farewell to some of its signature visual elements. "For the fourth season," Mike shared in an HBO Max video in April, "I'm eager to step away from the 'crashing waves against rocks' cliché a bit."
Yet, the 55-year-old creator noted with a mischievous glint in his eye, "There's always room for a few more murders in the White Lotus hotels."
