David Zaslav, the chief executive of Warner Bros. Discovery, revealed that he had a meeting with J.K. Rowling in London just a few weeks ago to discuss the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series. The eagerly awaited project is now firmly on track for a 2026 debut, as Zaslav announced during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call on Friday morning.

"Our enthusiasm for the Harry Potter franchise knows no bounds," Zaslav expressed, discussing WBD's strategic approach to the beloved series. "It's been over a decade since the last film hit the big screens."

Zaslav further shared that his recent trip to London included a meaningful encounter with the creator of Harry Potter herself, J.K. Rowling. "A few weeks ago, I was in London along with Casey [Bloys, the head of HBO and Max] and Channing [Dungey, the chief of WBD TV]. We dedicated some quality time with J.K. and her team," he recounted. "Both sides are thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were lively and encouraging, and we are ecstatic about what lies ahead. We can hardly wait to present fans around the globe with a decade's worth of fresh, captivating stories on Max."

The development of this TV series dates back to 2021, as exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Last year, WBD officially gave the green light to the project, with plans to create seasons based on all the books, spanning an exciting ten-year journey.
