A source has revealed to PEOPLE that Jessica Alba has enlisted the help of a divorce attorney amidst her separation from her spouse, Cash Warren. Alba, aged 43, and Warren, 45, tied the knot in May 2008 and are the proud parents of three children: daughters Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 7.
According to a report by TMZ on January 9th, the couple, after 16 years of marriage, have decided to part ways and are gearing up for a divorce. Following the news of their breakup, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE that despite the split, they remain "friends and focused on their children."
"Regardless of the current situation, it seems they will stay close," said the source. "If they are indeed filing for divorce, it's not due to any malicious drama. They still appear happy together. Over the years, Jess has mentioned how challenging it is to maintain the initial spark in their relationship."
Alba and Warren's love story began on the set of Fantastic Four in Vancouver in 2004. Alba played the role of Sue Storm, while Warren worked as an assistant director. In recent weeks, both have been spotted in public without their wedding rings, although they put on a united front to celebrate their son Hayes' 7th birthday earlier in January.
On New Year's Eve, Alba posted a cryptic message, stating that her 2024 was "filled with connection, growth, adventures, laughter, peace, sisterhood, transformation, rebirth, joy, and an abundance of love." Notably, the photo montage did not include any pictures of Warren.
In May 2024, the Sin City actress marked her wedding anniversary with Warren by posting on Instagram, "16 years of marriage, 20 years together, and forever to go." She added, "I'm proud of us for making it this far. There's no definitive playbook or guidance for committing to another person and choosing to become a family. Through thick and thin, we've consistently found our way back to each other and chosen each other. Cheers to us, I love you," Alba concluded, her words tinged with bittersweet sentimentality.
