Former Little Mix sensation Jesy Nelson has declared that she has "never felt prouder" of her body since the miraculous arrival of her twin daughters. The singer, who embraced motherhood by welcoming Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster in May alongside musician Zion Foster (her fiancé, whom she got engaged to last month), took to Instagram to express her profound realization. Nelson revealed that becoming a mother opened her eyes to "how incredible my body actually is."
Accompanied by striking images of herself in underwear, cradling her newborns, she penned a heartfelt message: "33 years of grueling diets, 33 years of self-deprecation, yearning for a flatter belly, a slightly slimmer waist, and even contemplating a boob job. Now, here I stand, having this photo taken." She continued, "I can honestly say I've never felt prouder of my body and what it has endured! Yes, my boobs sag lower, and my belly is bigger, squishier—it doesn't resemble its former self. But, my goodness, it created the most exquisite gift I've ever received."
Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "If there's one thing I've learned in the past nine months of pregnancy, it's that I never want my girls to experience the body insecurities I endured for so long." Addressing future and new mothers, she urged, "If you're struggling with self-acceptance or feeling pressured to 'bounce back,' take a moment to appreciate what YOU accomplished! Be kinder to yourself and remember, you are INCREDIBLE!!!"
Nelson, 34, gave birth to her twins prematurely at 31 weeks, after revealing rare complications during her pregnancy. In March, she underwent a "successful" procedure to avert complications linked to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). This condition arises from abnormal blood vessel connections in the twins' placenta, causing an uneven blood flow from one twin (the donor) to the other (the recipient), resulting in one baby receiving more blood than the other.
Shortly after the surgery, Nelson shared, "The TTTS has resolved, the operation was a resounding success—truly incredible. We are immensely fortunate to have such exceptional doctors." She also disclosed that her twins were monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they shared a single placenta but had separate amniotic sacs.
Nelson bid farewell to Little Mix in December 2020, citing the need to safeguard her mental well-being. She later revealed that relentless online abuse—a topic she explored in a 2019 BBC Three documentary—had pushed her to her "breaking point." Since embarking on a solo career, Nelson has released music, including the 2021 single "Boyz," featuring Nicki Minaj.
Little Mix, comprising Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, and Jade Thirlwall, emerged from The X Factor in 2011. The group went on to record multiple UK top 10 albums and five number one singles, with hits like "Wings," "Black Magic," and "Shout Out to My Ex." In 2021, they announced a hiatus following their 2022 tour, emphasizing that it was not a permanent split.
