Sadly, it appears that Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes' relationship has been marked by a pattern of ups and downs. The country singer and actor, who initially split in September but reconciled in December, are once again going their separate ways, according to multiple sources. E! News has reached out to their representatives for comment but has yet to receive a response.
Just days prior to the 2026 Grammy Awards, Kelsea shared that their relationship was in a good place. "We've been together for quite a while now and have shared a lot of life experiences together," she told Entertainment Tonight at the February 1st show. "I love love and I believe in it." In fact, the "Patterns" singer explained that their on-and-off status was a bit overblown. "I feel like outwardly, it looked a lot more dramatic than it was," Kelsea added. "And that was quite the learning lesson for us."

Indeed, when her representative confirmed to E! News in September that the couple had split after nearly three years of dating, the news came as a shock to fans. After all, just days before, Chase had shared a sweet tribute to Kelsea for her birthday.
"Although you keep saying you're not excited for 32, I'd say I'm looking forward to more of this," Chase wrote in a September 12 Instagram post. "Happy birthday my love."
But Kelsea—who was married to Morgan Evans from 2017 to 2022—moved on with her single life, sharing an update the following month to explain that the highlights of her autumn activities were "brought to you by hot dogs, porch painting, bed by 9pm, friendship, parks, Kenny Chesney, and lexapro." (Lexapro is a brand name for Escitalopram, an anti-depressant, per Mayo Clinic.)
Chase, for his part, was busy filming the fifth and final season of Outer Banks alongside ex-partner Madelyn Cline, Drew Starkey, and Madison Bailey. The 33-year-old shared a collection of moments from filming in Europe on October 29th, including photos of himself hitting the gym and walking around quaint towns. In the caption, Chase referred to a button he sported in one of the photos, deeming himself "Dumpster fire response team leader."
However, all was well between Chase and Kelsea by New Year's Eve, when she revealed they were back together. "Messy year for the heart, messy year for the outside coming in, messy year for the way it became an out of our hands portrayal of it," she wrote on her Instagram Stories on December 31st. "But what I'll say, and all I really care to share indefinitely with my personal life anymore, is that I really love love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns."
