Kristin Cavallari is opening up about a harrowing experience that left her with a harrowing revelation. The former Laguna Beach star shared during the May 27th episode of her podcast, Let's Be Honest, that she had to undergo a second breast augmentation surgery after discovering that one of the implants from her initial procedure had ruptured.
"Something deep within me was urging me to get my breasts checked again," Kristin recounted of the days preceding the discovery. "My intuition was shouting, 'Redo your boobs. Get them examined. At least seek a consultation. At least take this path!'"
After scheduling an appointment with her plastic surgeon, the 38-year-old quickly realized that her worries were grounded in reality. "When he examined my breasts, he definitely seemed concerned, especially about my right one," she continued. "He inquired if I had encountered any issues with it, if it had undergone any changes over the years."
At that time, Kristin admitted that her breasts "weren't sitting as I wanted them to," but she couldn't pinpoint exactly when this change occurred, following the birth of her and ex-husband Jay Cutler's 10-year-old son, Jaxon, in 2014. "He delved in, and I had a ruptured implant," she explained. "And there's no way to determine how long this implant had been ruptured."
Fortunately, Kristin's body had "formed a substantial piece of scar tissue around" the rupture, which she noted "kept everything in place" and served as "your body's natural defense mechanism." "That's definitely why my right breast wasn't sitting right," she said. "It was a mess! I had a ruptured implant, which is incredibly scary to contemplate."
However, since The Hills alum—who also shares children Camden, 12, and Saylor, 9, with Jay—caught the rupture before it caused any severe damage and she wasn't ready to have her implants completely removed, she decided to undergo surgery for a second time, opting for a slightly larger size this time.
"I'm still young, I have a full life to live, and I'm single," Kristin clarified. "If I were in a long-term relationship, perhaps I would consider removing my implants. I don't know. But I'm single now. At this stage in my life, I need the best breasts possible."
Now that she's had her plastic surgery redo, the reality TV personality has absolutely no regrets—especially after breastfeeding three children. As she put it, "Kids can really mess up your breasts."
"I'm going to be honest with you guys: getting my breasts done is one of the best decisions I've ever made," Kristin confessed. "I love being able to go braless in a shirt, and I cherish the moments when I take off my shirt in a relationship." She added, "I feel incredibly good about myself."
