The esteemed Malaysian filmmaker, Woo Ming Jin, has successfully completed the principal photography of his captivating new film, "The Fox King," as revealed by the producers at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This gripping tale, set in a coastal Malaysian town in the early 2000s, weaves a heartfelt narrative about Ali and Amir, twin brothers who share an inextricable telepathic bond.

When their father abandons them after remarrying a younger woman, these inseparable siblings are thrust into a world where they must fend for themselves. Their brotherly bond is tested to the limit with the arrival of Lara, a new teacher who challenges their relationship in unexpected ways.

Leading the cast is Indonesian star Dian Sastrowardoyo, who starred in Netflix's "Cigarette Girl," alongside Idan Aedan ("Blood Flower"), Amerul Affendi ("I.D."), Chew Kin Wah ("Rain Town"), and the promising newcomer Hadi Putra. "The Fox King" has been a journey of discovery, participating in the Tokyo gap financing market and the QCinema project market in 2023, attracting attention and support from across the film industry.

The film is a collaboration between Sunstrong Entertainment, the producer of critically acclaimed "Snow in Midsummer," and Malaysian companies Greenlight Pictures and Da Huang Pictures, as well as Indonesia's KawanKawan Media. The Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) has also lent its support to this ambitious project.

The production team is a formidable one, led by Edmund Yeo and Woo from Greenlight Pictures, whose previous film "Stone Turtle" won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Locarno Film Festival in 2022. Chua Jin Xuan of Da Huang Pictures, whose "Barbarian Invasion" won accolades at the Shanghai Film Festival, and Yulia Evina Bhara of KawanKawan Media, whose "Autobiography" was a Venice Film Festival winner, serve as co-producers, ensuring that "The Fox King" will be a film that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide.
