Maya Rudolph Embarks on a Wellness Journey in Apple TV+’s ‘Loot’ Season 2 Trailer

Published: Jun 17 2024

On Thursday, Apple TV+ unwrapped the eagerly awaited season 2 trailer for "Loot," offering a tantalizing glimpse into the pulse-pounding drama unfolding a year after Molly Wells' (Maya Rudolph) highly publicized divorce from tech titan John Novak (Adam Scott).

Returning to the spotlight as a billionaire heroine, Molly Wells reigns supreme as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation. This season, the trailer hints that Molly has redirected her energy towards her charitable pursuits, swearing off romantic entanglements with men and embarking on a journey of self-care and well-being. Fabulously single yet not entirely autonomous, Molly relies heavily on her loyal assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster), who attends to her every whim and occasionally sneaks a gin-laced kale smoothie into her diet.

In the trailer, Rudolph's Molly announces her intention to donate her entire $120 billion fortune and attempts to launch a new housing initiative called "Space for All." The upcoming season also welcomes the return of the original cast, including Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches, and Booster.

Sofia Salinas (Rodriguez), the executive director of the Wells Foundation, continues to steer the ship, but her world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Molly's architect friend Isaac (O-T Fagbenle). Meanwhile, the bromance between Howard (Funches) and Nicholas blossoms further as they support each other's endeavors both inside and outside the workplace. Arthur (Faxon) has moved on from his feelings for Molly and adopted a new, relaxed attitude towards life, reflected in his rather understated leather bracelet.

As Molly strives to fulfill her public promise of giving away her vast fortune, the Wells Foundation team, including Rhonda (Meagen Fay) and Ainsley (Stephanie Styles), must pull together as colleagues and friends. Season 2 will also feature guest stars Benjamin Bratt, Ana Gasteyer, and Fagbenle.

"Loot" is created, written, and executive produced by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. Rudolph serves as executive producer alongside her producing partner Danielle Renfrew Behrens, Dave Becky of 3 Arts, and Natasha Lyonne. The series is produced for Apple by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

"Loot" will premiere with the first two episodes on April 3, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 29. Get ready for an exciting season that promises to deliver drama, humor, and heartfelt moments as Molly Wells continues her journey towards giving away her immense fortune.
