As the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle is once again ready to step onto the big screen, returning to acting after a seven-year hiatus. According to multiple sources, Meghan will appear in a new film titled Close Personal Friends, alongside Lily Collins and Brie Larson. The Amazon MGM Studios-produced comedy follows the story of partners who befriend a famous couple during a trip to Santa Barbara, California, as reported by People. E! News reached out to representatives for Meghan and Amazon for comment but has not yet received a response.

Close Personal Friends, also starring Henry Golding and Jack Quaid, was first announced in August, with production beginning one month later in London. Although most details about the film are still under wraps, Lily has shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Jason Orley-directed project on Instagram. In a photo posted on September 22, the Emily in Paris star posed for a selfie with Henry, Brie, and Jack in an all-white room, captioning it, "Close (personal) friends only..."
This film marks Meghan's first acting role since she exited the long-running legal drama Suits in 2018 after playing series regular Rachel Zane for seven seasons. The 44-year-old made the decision to leave the show to focus on her responsibilities within the royal family ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry, who she tied the knot with in 2018. "I don't see it as giving anything up," Meghan explained in an interview with the BBC at the time. "I just see it as a change." She continued, "For me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, you know what? I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I've done there, and now it's time to work as a team with [Harry]."
Three years after her departure from Hollywood, Meghan and Harry—who are parents to 6-year-old Prince Archie and 4-year-old Princess Lilibet—stepped down as senior working royals and relocated their family to the U.S. However, despite launching her lifestyle brand As Ever and premiering her own Netflix homemaking series With Love, Meghan insists that she does not see herself returning to acting as a full-time gig. "I'm done," she told Variety in 2022. "I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not."
