Katelynn Ordone is grappling with the aftermath of a heart-wrenching tragedy. More than two months have passed since her cherished 2-year-old son, Preston Ordone, affectionately known on TikTok as "Okay Baby," passed away in a car accident that also involved her and her husband, Jaelan Ordone. Amidst this sorrow, Katelynn has offered an update on her health, disclosing that she "bears no recollection of the accident" due to the injuries she sustained. "My memory of the two to three days subsequent to the accident is also non-existent," she revealed in a TikTok video posted on July 3. "I endured a traumatic brain injury, resulting in a significant loss of memory."
Though unable to personally recall the harrowing events of the crash, the 25-year-old mother, whose 7-year-old daughter Paisley Ordone mercifully was not a part of the April incident, has pieced together fragments of what transpired. She managed to locate her phone immediately after the accident. "I dialed 911 first and was on the call with them for five minutes," Katelynn recounted. "The only way I know this is by checking my call logs, and my parents have confirmed that I reached out to them as well."
During her phone conversation with her parents, Katelynn, whose Ford truck veered off the road and collided with a tree while traveling 50 miles north of New Orleans according to police, managed to share her location via a pin, albeit in a state of fluctuating consciousness. "There were moments when I could converse, moments when I was in excruciating pain, groaning and moaning, and stretches of silence where I couldn't utter a word," she described.
Just before rescue arrived for her and Jaelan, who also survived, Katelynn experienced a moment that has since become a beacon of her unwavering faith in God. "Suddenly, I recited the Lord's Prayer flawlessly on the phone with my dad," she explained. "And let me clarify, after my dad informed me of this, I had to look up the Lord's Prayer. I've heard of it, I recognize it when I hear it, but I was not proficient enough to recite it perfectly."
Despite acknowledging that her healing journey is still "a long and arduous road," this divine intervention has provided Katelynn with solace amidst the grief of losing Preston, whose cause of death was determined to be "blunt force injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident," listed as accidental by the St. Tammany Parish coroner's office. "This has instilled in me a sense of hope, a hope that stems solely from God," she shared. "Without God, I wouldn't have the assurance of seeing Preston again."
Katelynn added, "I'm not implying that this has alleviated all the pain I've felt—believe me, I've felt every ounce of it—but God has bestowed upon me the strength to persevere."
