Podcaster Bobbi Althoff Says Her Face is Paralyzed After “Botched” Botox

Bobbi Althoff, the vivacious host of "Not This Again," shares the downside of her cosmetic journey with Botox in a poignant TikTok video, captioned "#botchedbotox." Reflecting on her two experiences with the injectable, she recounts how her latest session left her face in a state of unnatural stiffness.

"If you're wondering, 'Bobbi, why can't your face move?,' let me tell you why," she begins, her tone laced with disbelief. "In 2023, I met someone who enthusiastically suggested Botox for my face, and I said, 'Sure, let's do it.' One of the things she did was inject 20 units of Botox into my chin, and it rendered me unable to smile." The 28-year-old, who rose to fame with her former show "The Really Good Podcast," became wary of Botox after this experience.

However, her fear was rekindled when she visited a "TMJ specialist" to address her chronic jaw pain. "He did a CT scan of my jaw and told me, 'It's not a bone problem, it's a muscle problem.' Then he asked if I'd ever heard of Botox for the jaw. I said yes, but with a hesitant heart." Despite her unease, the specialist assured her the injections "will really help" soothe her muscles.

Agreeing to the procedure, Bobbi received "25 units" of Botox on each side of her temples—a dosage she believed was "a lot" at the time. Now that the Botox is settling in, she realizes her instincts were on point. "My eyes look like they're frozen. But the worst part? I can't smile. My face is a frozen rictus. I can feel all this tension right here. It just hurts."

But the effects didn't stop there; Bobbi also shared with her dentist that she was struggling to talk and "it hurts to eat." Unfortunately, the specialist informed her that she can't have the injections dissolved for another few months. "I'm afraid of what it's gonna do to my face, but I can't do anything about it," she laments. "So for the next three months, I'm just gonna look stupid."

Bobbi isn't alone in her Botox misadventure; Meghan Trainor, 30, also confessed on her "Workin’ On It" podcast last December that multiple rounds of injections and filler had altered her smile. "Someone convinced me with my little lips that if you did a lip flip and put filler right above your upper lip, you could have a beautiful flip on your upper lip," she shared. "It was not true. I cannot smile anymore."
