Succession’s Nicholas Braun Arrested for Misdemeanor DUI

Published: Sep 03 2025

Nicholas Braun has found himself entangled in a legal quandary. The star of the hit show "Succession" was reportedly halted by the authorities and subsequently arrested on August 30th in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, for driving under the influence, as confirmed by the Moultonborough Police Department in a press release dated September 2nd.

According to TMZ, who broke the story, Braun spent approximately an hour incarcerated at a Carroll County jail before being released without the necessity of bail. While it was reported that no mugshot was taken of the 37-year-old due to a malfunction in the police station's cameras, he is set to face court in the near future.

E! News reached out to both the police and Braun's legal representative for comment, but as of yet, has received no response.

Braun's arrest comes as a surprise, especially considering it's been less than six months since the "Perks of Being a Wallflower" actor publicly acknowledged his relationship with girlfriend Hyunji Ward on Instagram, celebrating her birthday in March. "HBD to my sweet, sweet DARLING of a girlfriend," he captioned several photos of himself and the TeaTime Pictures executive. "You are the absolute joy of my life. You make me my best self!!"

Though they have kept their romance relatively low-key, the couple has occasionally made joint appearances, including an unannounced outing at an Emmy Awards after-party in January of last year and a date night at a Netflix event the following month.

Yet, just a few years prior, Braun had opened up about his struggles with dating, admitting that he often overthought potential connections. "I don't feel like I have power or leverage at all," Braun confessed to The Cut in June 2021. "I'm the one trying to get something, whether it's a text back, a call back, or anything."

Indeed, the "Sky High" actor admitted that he hadn't had much experience in long-term relationships to begin with. "I haven't really been in a long-term relationship, ever," he told The New York Times that October. "I do yearn for it and yet I'm incapable of it. I go toward it and then I hit a wall where I'm like, 'I can't go farther into this. I've got to exit.'"

He remained optimistic, however. "I do believe it'll happen at the right time with the right person," he continued. "Until then, it's fun to meet people and see what works."
