SZA's SOS universe continues to expand, as the hit-making artist gracefully appends four fresh tracks to the deluxe edition of her sophomore album, Lana, on Sunday, February 9th — mere moments before she takes the stage with Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The addition to disc 1 of SOS Deluxe: Lana showcases a rich array of new tunes, including "Joni," a mesmerizing collaboration with Don Toliver, alongside "Take You Down" and "PSA." Additionally, fans will delight in a solo rendition of "Open Arms," which previously featured Travis Scott in the album's initial iteration.
These latest compositions arrive more than two years after the initial release of SOS in December 2022, where it reigned supreme for 10 weeks atop the Billboard 200. When SZA unveiled the Lana deluxe version of the album in December 2024, enhancing the collection with 15 new songs, SOS soared back to the pinnacle of the charts for another two weeks, bringing its total nonconsecutive reign to an impressive 12 weeks so far.
About ten days after Lana's release, SZA shared with her fans on X that she harbored a desire to incorporate these new tracks into the album retrospectively. At that time, she anticipated that both the new songs and updated mixes of existing tracks would arrive on January 6th, expressing gratitude to her followers for their patience.
The inclusion of these tracks also precedes SZA's highly anticipated performance alongside Lamar during the Compton rapper's headline halftime showcase, which will take place midway through the Kansas City Chiefs versus Philadelphia Eagles game at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Lamar revealed in late January that his long-time friend and frequent collaborator, who he recently joined on "Luther" and "Gloria" from the November album GNX, would join him on the field. This eagerly anticipated performance will pave the way for their forthcoming joint tour of North America, which will commence in Minnesota on April 19th.
