Taylor Swift doesn't need to un-recall the near-perfect narrative of her love story with Travis Kelce—because it's a reality she now cherishes. Four months after the "Opalite" singer and Kansas City Chiefs player announced their engagement, she divulged how their romance serves as a lifeline when she feels like an outsider in her own life. As she told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show on December 10, "I can talk to him about anything."

The 35-year-old emphasized that she never thought she'd find that perfect, enchanting life that shines with an innocent light, all while reacquiring the master recordings of her first six albums in the same year. "Those two things—getting engaged to the love of my life and getting all my music back—were two unimaginable events that never could have happened," she explained. "They never could have happened. It wasn't like, 'Oh, it's just a matter of time.' Both of those things could've never arrived in my life. And I'm so grateful for both of those things happening."
Taylor credited her music accomplishments to her fans but gave Travis and his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce the credit for igniting her love life. "This podcast has done a lot for me," she said during her August appearance on New Heights. "It got me a boyfriend since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app a few years ago."
She noted that Travis's public pursuit was "such a wild romantic gesture." "It felt like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie," she joked. "And he was just standing outside my window with a boom box, being like, 'I wanna date you.'"
For Taylor, Travis and her past music are intertwined. Recalling the 36-year-old's shot-taking moment, she admitted, "This is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager." And Travis agreed, adding, "I was sitting there at The Eras Tour listening to every single one of those songs, thinking, 'I know what she wants me to do.'"
