The Red singer shared during a heartfelt conversation with her mother, Andrea Swift, in the documentary, "I've been very non-athlete because I'm not one, and I've always been like, 'What would we talk about?'"
Swift continued to recount how her mother encouraged her to meet Travis after Kelce made a public plea on the New Heights podcast. "So you call me up with this tone of, 'Hey, I know you’re going to not react well to this, but there’s a guy…,'" Swift recalled about the conversation with Andrea. Her mother interjected with a smile, "He's really cute."
Andrea further explained, "I'm looking at the headlines and perusing around on the Internet, and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you." She added with a twinkle in her eye, "So I call up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go, 'Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.'" Robin's glowing response further encouraged Andrea. "She goes, 'Oh my God, he is the nicest guy! And he really loves his mom.' And I went, 'Ding, ding, ding, ding,'" Andrea added.
Despite Swift's initial fears, things worked out perfectly for her and Travis Kelce. The two found a wealth of common ground and eventually got engaged earlier this year. Their love story is a testament to the power of second chances and overcoming initial misgivings.
