Teyana Taylor is prioritizing her well-being with unwavering focus. On August 6th, the soulful crooner behind the hit "Gonna Love Me" revealed that she would soon undergo emergency surgery to excise a benign growth from her vocal cords. Sharing the news via her Instagram Story, Teyana began by saying, "For quite some time now, I've been quietly grappling with vocal challenges." She elaborated, explaining that medical professionals had "discovered a noncancerous, yet troublesome growth on one of my vocal cords, disrupting my voice and causing considerable discomfort."

With a touch of gratitude, she continued, "Fortunately, we caught it early, and it's manageable—nevertheless, it necessitates a temporary halt so I can devote myself fully to healing." Teyana has made the heartfelt decision to reschedule her upcoming appearance on Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson's IMO podcast, accommodating her recovery timeline, yet she remains committed to the August 22nd release of her fourth studio album, Escape Room.

Reflecting on her artistic endeavor, the 34-year-old artist penned, "This album is the most intimate collection of work I've ever produced." She added poignantly, "Just as I was poised to unveil this labor of love to you, life handed me an unforeseen 'escape room'—one I didn't seek, but one I must navigate with patience, rest, and unwavering faith." With determination in her voice, Teyana vowed to return "with even greater fervor, purpose, and as the finest version of myself." She eagerly anticipated, "I am eager to emerge from this journey stronger, softer, and ready to serenade once more."

This isn't the first time the star of Straw has opened her heart about her health battles. During a 2021 episode of her and then-husband Iman Shumpert's reality show, We Got Love Teyana & Iman, she bravely recounted how doctors had identified benign yet "dense" tissues in her breasts, necessitating their removal.

At the time, Teyana expressed her heartfelt wish, "I yearn for this to be my final journey through such trials." She shared, "Cancer looms in my family history, making it a daunting prospect for both Iman and me." Despite her ordeal, the talented choreographer, who co-parents daughters Junie, 9, and Rue, 4, with her ex, professed having no regrets concerning her medical journey.

She concluded thoughtfully, "I embrace each and every scar, every facet of motherhood. The physical, mental, and emotional transformations are astonishing. As mothers, we truly are superwomen."
