Charlie Hunnam candidly shared that he had ceased reading reviews from a very early stage in his career. His decision to disregard critics entirely was spurred by his experience in a movie alongside the 'Lord of the Rings' star, Elijah Wood.

In an interview at the Critics' Choice Awards, where he was nominated for his role in 'Monster: The Ed Gein Story,' Hunnam revealed that he has not read a review for many years. He explained that this realization came early in his acting journey, which he has been pursuing for over two decades.

The pivotal moment came after the release of the 2005 film 'Green Street Hooligans,' where Hunnam starred alongside Elijah Wood. The overwhelmingly negative feedback from critics led Hunnam to decide that he did not want to experience such a setback again.

"I didn't see anything," Hunnam told Access Hollywood at the event. "Not for years. I learned that lesson early in my career. I've been doing this for 27 years." When asked if a particular critic's review had caused him to abandon reading reviews, Hunnam pointed to 'Green Street Hooligans.'

"There was a film I did called 'Green Street Hooligans,' which ended up getting a huge cult following," he said. "But the critics were not particularly kind to me when that film came out, and I said, 'All right, okay. I don't need to go through this again.' So, yeah. I don't watch anything."

Furthermore, Hunnam revealed that he was unaware of his nomination. "No, I didn't know I was nominated," he said. "I was at my ranch up north of Santa Barbara, and I never really look at my phone when I'm up there." He added, "I didn't know these nominations were coming out, and I looked at my phone and had like 40 missed calls and messages. I thought, 'Oh no, something horrible has happened.' Turns out something wonderful had happened."
