1992 – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Switching to the present, Richi and Amparo stride into the police station, determined to confront Manchado. The atmosphere is charged with urgency, yet Manchado's absence casts a palpable shadow over the bustling scene. He has been abruptly reassigned to another division, his place usurped by the bland and platitudinous Robledo. The hurried nature of Robledo's appointment suggests a concerted effort to silence Manchado, who remains tight-lipped about the Expo photograph and the looming threat to Minister of the Interior Palacios.

Robledo exudes disbelief regarding Palacios's potential peril, failing to grasp the intricate web of connections. His words ring as empty as a hollow drum, and Richi, who isn't deceived by Robledo's superficial charms, knows that he's merely paying lip service. Robledo's nonexistent note-taking on his iPad only further cements Richi's suspicions. While Amparo falls under Robledo's spell, Richi sees through his facade with a keen eye.

Determined to embark on a new path, Richi vows to clean up his act and embrace sobriety. After discarding a mountain of empty cans and bottles, he scrutinizes the footage from the explosion with laser-like focus. And as fate would have it, he spots the perpetrator exiting the building, cloaked in a hood and burdened with a backpack.

Meanwhile, Amparo engages in a heartfelt conversation with her son Mario, who encourages her to return to law school. Mario's relocation to Canada leaves Amparo in a lonely household, her thoughts constantly torn between the case and her longing for her son. Mario senses that something is troubling her but respects her privacy, allowing her to navigate her thoughts in solitude. In the subsequent scene, Amparo visits Richi, eager to dive into the investigation by traveling to Seville. Richi harbors doubts about the wisdom of her plan, and despite his fleeting moment of sobriety, he succumbs to temptation and resumes drinking after Amparo's departure, his resolve wavering in the face of his addiction.

In a blissful haze, fueled by the intoxicating embrace of alcohol, Richi abruptly interrupted the minister's crucial address, unleashing a scene of unparalleled turmoil that mirrored the legendary tale from Chinese mythology where the Monkey King wreaks untamed havoc upon the Heavenly Realm—a real-life embodiment of the epic "Dà Nào Tiān Gōng" (The Great Rebellion in Heaven). With a flourish of dramatic flair, he proclaimed that the minister stood on the precipice of peril, but was swiftly and decisively overpowered by the security personnel, who efficiently escorted him, handcuffed and subdued, to a detention cell. There, Quintas, motivated by malice, deliberately prodded the already humbled captive, heaping insult upon injury with cruel delight.

Meanwhile, Amparo arrived in Seville solo, her destination unmistakably La Cartuja Island. She was eager for a face-to-face conversation with Mr. Victoria, the CEO, but his secretary was unwilling to lend a helping hand. Fortunately, a kind-hearted cleaner named Rosa warned her of potential peril if she persisted further. Undeterred, Amparo discreetly tailed Rosa after her shift, and the tailing soon turned into a chase, leading Amparo unexpectedly into the lair of an assassin. Confronted with an intricate array of toys, she refrained from probing further, saying nothing, and simply retreated.

The assassin struck again, this time targeting Jose Zamorano in a nursing home. Tragedy struck shortly after Amparo confronted him. This chain of events prompted Robledo to release Richi, tasking him with aiding in the investigation. Upon checking his phone, Richi discovered Amparo's presence in Seville, cursing his ill luck under his breath.

As for Amparo, she found herself alone, wandering aimlessly in the dark. The assassin spotted her trail and cornered her on a bridge. Coincidentally, Rosa also appeared on the scene. Faced with the advancing assassin, Amparo, without hesitation, leapt into the water in a bid to escape her perilous predicament. The assassin, seemingly in cahoots with Rosa, stood by silently as the drama unfolded.
