1992 – Season 1 Episode 5 1

As they cautiously navigate through the hideout, they come across Robledo, submerged in a bubbling latex bath, lifeless. The shock of discovering his corpse is compounded by the sudden appearance of the killer, who promptly flees the scene. A heated pursuit unfolds outdoors, but Richi's lack of endurance eventually allows the killer to escape.

Richi's disheveled departure from the scene raises suspicions, leading to both him and Amparo being summoned for questioning by the police. The officers criticize Richi for not alerting the authorities and instead taking matters into his own hands. With Robledo deceased, Richi is haunted by visions of his dead body alongside Alvaro's.

Upon their release from custody, Amparo decides to personally investigate Rosa's address, which she commits to memory. Carmen, dissatisfied with the case being closed despite spending the weekend scrutinizing boot prints, vows to pursue it further. Meanwhile, Richi considers abandoning the whole ordeal and resorting to alcohol.

Amparo ventures to the address herself and, with the assistance of a local, gains access through the balcony. Inside, she finds the place in disarray and deserted, except for a lone cat. She pockets a family photograph for herself but unfortunately stumbles into a trap, as the mysterious man from earlier arrives with his accomplices.

However, Carmen arrives at the nick of time, armed with a gun, and manages to rescue Amparo. They flee together, with Amparo believing that a tape might hold the key to unraveling the entire case. In the archives, while Amparo distracts the guard, Carmen searches for the tape they need. Once they secure it, they return to the tech-savvy individual they previously encountered, enlisting his expertise to play the tape.

Regarding Richi, he is overwhelmed by a torrent of guilt following the catastrophic car accident that shattered his life, claiming the precious souls of his wife and daughter. This emotional turmoil provides a stark explanation for the eerie, unrealistic CGI scene earlier in the season, depicting him being thrown through the windscreen. It further elucidates the profound burden of guilt that crushes his spirit, and the devastating impact of Alvaro and Robledo's demise on his psyche.

Meanwhile, Carmen and Amparo delve into the tape, which sends them on a trail that winds through to a local strip club. While navigating the seedy atmosphere, Richi serendipitously discovers another potential thread in the tapestry of clues, embodied by the club's owner, Ramiro Luengo. His connections to the Expo are unmistakable, yet when confronted, the girls are abruptly escorted to the rear by security guards. Drawing upon her self-defense training, Carmen wields a taser with prowess, overpowering the guards with the skills she honed in her classes.

Richi pays Victoria a visit, armed with probing questions. It transpires that shortly after the Expo, Victoria had acquired a staggering 100 million pesetas. He was entwined in a nefarious scheme involving the girls at the strip club, orchestrated by Expo cronies who encircled the trio. Ramiro played his part too, babysitting the child while the girls went to work.

Tragedy struck when Marga plummeted through a glass table, her life extinguished instantaneously. A conspiracy of silence enveloped the scene, including Jose who arrived on the grim premises. The Expo men bore the brunt of consequences, compelled to compensate Jose for his silence. With the Expo's funds already depleted on indulgent drugs and liquor, they were left with no alternative but to involve the police.

Jose orchestrated the Victoria's sinking as a clever deceit, presenting it as an accident. Yet, it was anything but fortuitous. Jose planted the bomb and ignited it, while setting the pavilion ablaze, with Marga's lifeless body still confined within. Their aim was to manipulate the government into allocating funds, and to conceal the grim reality of Marga's murder.

In the aftermath, Marga's son, Victor, sustained severe burns. Rosa took him under her wing, nursing him back to health. This revelation uncovers the killer's identity – it is Victor. He witnessed the harrowing events and bravely attempted to rescue his mother from the blazing pavilion. Yet, his valiant efforts were rewarded with burns, marking him forever as a survivor of that fatal night.
