In the present day, Lee's relationship with Linus takes a turn for the worse. When Karl calls to inform her about the male victim, she's clearly distracted. He notices this and tracks her location.

On Day 32, Ciara discovers Shyla in her apartment with a gun. Shyla resents being forced into the con and hates that Ciara is leaving her for Oliver. Ciara insists that Oliver is paying for his mistakes and is lonely and guilty. But Shyla is unmoved and claims they need to wrap up all loose ends or Ciara will be caught for embezzlement. Ciara promises to fix things, but Shyla doesn't believe her.

Meanwhile, Chickie calls Oliver to gossip about Alison, whom she never liked. A lonely Oliver wishes she would come to the memorial, but she's not interested.

In the present day, Lee tries to end her relationship with Linus, but he threatens and chokes her. Karl steps in and pulls him off her. Linus looks smug that Karl now knows, and he leaves. Karl is upset that Lee used him and lied to him, calling her out for making him feel like he has a shitty life so she could feel better. She apologizes, and while she beats herself up for it, he notices a gold chain and pockets it.

On Day 33, Ciara disappears, and Oliver goes looking for her. He only finds her work badge and runs into a tenant who reveals there was no fumigation. He then goes to her office and learns she doesn't work there.

Meanwhile, Kristi, Ciara's mom, does a tarot reading and leaves her a message. According to her reading, something big is going to happen.

As for Shyla, she makes a dramatic entrance at Dan's office, causing a scene in front of a patient. She labels Dan a drug-dealing, parasitic pedophile, and there is a restraining order between them. She orders him to keep Oliver away from Ciara, and he is shocked to learn of her involvement. The scene cuts to Ciara, moping and day drinking at the Westbury bar from their first date. A compassionate woman befriends her and Ciara confides in her everything. She feels powerless and wonders if she should kill Oliver or herself. The woman reassures her that despite her cunning exterior, she is actually a good person.

On present day, the cops suspect Oliver to be the victim and decide to investigate his enemies, such as Paul's mother. On the way to Rhode Island, Lee tries to lighten the mood, but Karl's anger begins to simmer. It is Day 33, and Oliver tries to delve into the things Ciara has left behind at his place. He sees their photo and tears up as he recalls a memory where she had wanted to move to the North with him. He sedates himself but then discovers Ciara's notebook under her bed.

On present day, the cops arrive at Paul's home, and Mrs. Sparling opens the door. It is not Kristi. On Day 33, a shocked Oliver gets into the shower and tries to sober up. Dan calls him and tries to explain that Ciara is Megan Martin, Shane Martin's sister. Oliver passes out just as someone else arrives. It is Ciara herself. She tells Dan that Oliver now knows and hangs up.
