The seventh episode of "As You Stood By" commences with Jin-young launching a ferocious attack on Jang Kang, swiftly bringing him to his knees. As she pieces together the fragments of truth, Mr. Ma, one of the fixers, rescues Eun-su. So-baek reaches out to Hui-su, who is visibly upset that Eun-su continues to risk her life for her. Eun-su reveals that she is also doing it for herself, seeking redemption for all the times she looked the other way during instances of domestic abuse. So-baek cautions the women that revenge is not the answer, sharing a flashback of his own physical trauma from killing his son's murderer, despite his best intentions. Nevertheless, he insists on helping them, acknowledging his responsibility for Jang Kang's actions. Through the fixers' network, they learn of Jin-young's involvement.

Meanwhile, Jin-young goes to extreme lengths, kidnapping and drugging Jang, locking him in her car's trunk and hiding it in her mother's garage. She then erases Jin-pyo's phone and tosses it into a river. We discover that Jeong-suk is an alcoholic, and Jin-young often covers up her driving under the influence (DUI) incidents. Her dream is to become the first female commissioner, and she needs a spotless background for that. Despite the commissioner's warning her to never jeopardize her reputation, she bravely passes the background check and interview, poised to join the President's security detail.
Jin-young decides to gather evidence and character witnesses to frame Jin-pyo as a loving and caring husband who was wrongly killed by Hui-su, a fraudster. She goes so far as to manipulate her colleague, Choi Gyeong-gu, who is handling the security guard's murder case. She fabricates claims that Hui-su is self-harming, paranoid, and possibly responsible for the guard's death.
Elsewhere, Hui-su suffers a head injury before a lunch date with Jeong-suk. Seeing the injury, Jeong-suk mistakenly believes Jin-pyo has returned. Hui-su feels betrayed that Jeong-suk, a survivor of domestic abuse herself, was aware of her son's abusive nature all along.
As Hui-su endures the torment of Jeong-suk and Jin-young, the rest of the group concocts a plan to deal with Jang Kang. Eun-su, without hesitation, breaks into Jin-young's car and abducts Jang herself, prompting So-baek's dismay over her reckless decision with no backup plan. On top of that, Jin-young calls her, further rattling her nerves. Furious and impulsive, Eun-su agrees to listen to So-baek's plan to send both Jang Kang and Jin-pyo's corpse to China, thus evading the jurisdiction of the South Korean authorities.
However, So-baek leaves Mr Wi to guard Jang, who, as expected, manipulates Wi emotionally, escapes, and kills him. Approaching Jin-young with an offer to take her to Jin-pyo's corpse in exchange for 2 billion, she agrees. But when he digs up the grave, they only find a dead deer. She knocks him out and discovers a suitcase beneath the deer's carcass.
Officer Choi Gyeong-gu finds Jin-young's story suspicious as he was present the day Hui-su tried to report Jin-pyo's abuse. He visits her doctor who confirms Jin-pyo's domestic abuse and apologizes as he visits Hui-su. He returns her report, which she decides to shred along with the doctor's report.
However, Jin-young contacts her again, pretending to have retrieved Jin-pyo's dead body and found Jang Kang left for dead by Eun-su. She threatens to kill Hui-su's mother and Eun-su unless Hui-su kills herself, claiming it's the best option since Eun-su is risking herself for Hui-su's sake.
With the rest finding out about Jang's escape, Eun-su suggests hiding at So-baek's place. Hui-su agrees, acting all bittersweet and nostalgic. But when Eun-su is distracted, she sneaks off.
The scene cuts to Hui-su experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning as she has locked herself in her car. Jin-young watches from outside and has left a fake suicide note with Hui-su.
