In the opening of Episode 5 of Season 2 of Beef, Josh is seen pouring orange juice into a glass, ready to take a sip when Lindsay suddenly announces that their dog, Burberry, is missing. The couple's panic sets in as they begin an intense search for their beloved pet.

Josh checks with a neighbor to access CCTV footage, but despite seeing a pistachio-colored car, he brushes it off. Meanwhile, they post about Burberry on social media and receive a call from a local animal shelter. However, the dog at the shelter is not their own. The shelter asks them to take the other dog in case Burberry does not return, but Lindsay's heart is broken. Soon, the couple starts blaming each other for what happened, and their argument escalates as they bring up past mistakes.
Elsewhere, Josh tries to distract himself with work, but Troy notices his behavior and takes him to Utah on his jet for a private Hot Chip concert. Meanwhile, Lindsay puts up missing dog posters around town but begins to lose hope when she feels no one cares. She is surprised to see Ashley and Austin helping in the search. Austin asks Ashley to go home, but she chooses to stay with Lindsay and continue looking for Burberry.
In Utah, Josh joins the band on stage but begins to spiral into an existential crisis. Back at home, Lindsay and Ashley try to figure out where Burberry might have gone and share their experiences. Ashley praises Lindsay and says Josh does not deserve her. They grow closer as they talk about Ashley's procedure and revisit the night they recorded the video.
Meanwhile, Josh begins to miss Lindsay. Troy tells him about his past as a womanizer and how Lindsay changed his life. Later that night, Lindsay drops Ashley off at home and continues searching alone. She enters a forest and finds a coyote attacking Burberry. She manages to scare it away, but Burberry is badly injured.
Josh rushes to the veterinary hospital and learns that the dog is in surgery. Lindsay tells him she wants a divorce. The vet later informs them that Burberry could not be saved. The episode ends with Josh returning home and drinking the orange juice straight from the jug, lost in thought and grief.
