Episode 7 of "Boyfriend on Demand" resumes with Kyeong-nam observing Mi-rae's evident distraction at work. This scene takes place before the beach incident, and everything we've witnessed up to this point is seen from Kyeong-nam's perspective. Their interactions have been a series of coincidences that have brought them closer together, from elevator rides to Secret Santa gifts. However, the day in episode 1 when the chocolate-mouthed kid dirtied Mi-rae's jacket was when Kyeong-nam nervously tried to engage but realized he tried too hard.
Kyeong-nam experimented with different tactics over the weeks, including a more standoffish attitude, but he was always drawn back to her, like the incident on the retreat with the bottle caps. This brings us to the moment we left off in the previous episode. The pair walks together back to their hotel rooms, but Kyeong-nam is unintentionally blunt with his questions and answers. The reason for this becomes clear when we see that Kyeong-nam overheard Song and Mi-rae discussing how the latter doesn't have a boyfriend, yet to him, she's admitted she does.
After the big award show, the morning hangover isn't pretty for Song. While she ropes Mi-rae into going to the airport with her, the rest of the team hangs out at the beach. Kyeong-nam struggles to disguise his disappointment over this turn of events.
Mi-rae, on the other hand, makes it back home and indulges in more fantasies and dates with Yeong-il. She knows that the next chapter of their journey together is up to her, but she's struggling to discern the difference between Yeong-il and Kyeong-nam, with both men blurring together in her mind.
Mi-rae decides to start avoiding Kyeong-nam altogether after an awkward encounter at work. It doesn't last long, and Mi-rae decides to be confident in front of him... and then walks right into a glass window. It causes a big bump on her head, and as she rushes out of work, Kyeong-nam realizes she's left behind her keyring and picks it up.
Mi-rae tries to hide the huge bump on her head by getting bangs, but Kyeong-nam and others can tell right away. Song is late to upload her episode (thanks in part to still being mortified over the So-yeong incident), and it's freezing cold in the office too. When the heaters inevitably turn off, Kyeong-nam and Mi-rae sit together by a heater.
After a delightful evening together, an unexpected drama unfolds when Hwany surpasses Song in the webtoon rankings. The shift in popularity following the Awards is undeniable, but Song struggles to cope with the change. The Director enlists Mi-rae to devise a strategy to prevent a further decline in coin sales for their star performer. Unfortunately, Song's contract is expiring soon, and the company might not be able to retain her if things don't improve. The upcoming season could very well be her last, and given her previous ranking dominance, the situation unnerves her.
Meanwhile, Song falls into a state of defeatism, believing her entire life is coming to an end. Mi-rae gives her a pep talk and they head out for dinner. However, they end up at the same restaurant as Hwany and Kyeong-nam. The initial awkwardness quickly turns into hilarity when Song invites So-yeong to join them. Hwany tries his best to impress her, and the night progresses smoothly from there.
Outside, Kyeong-nam and Mi-rae engage in a heart-to-heart conversation. He urges them to be honest with each other, and when Mi-rae confesses that she's single, Kyeong-nam takes a bold step and tells her how much he cares for her.
