As Episode 5 unfolds, Senior Constable Zilficar "Zil" Ahmed (portrayed by Akshay Khanna) finds himself publicly vilified in the media, while snippets from his conversation with Senior Constable Greg Hall (Jackson Heywood) resurface, hinting at possible coaching in the aftermath of the train incident. Dalia Tun (played by Zoe Boe) has successfully ventured into the vibrant nightclub scene, yet a fleeting confrontation with two revelers underscores the inherent risks she faces. Ahmed, mirroring a similar predicament with his colleague Greg, finds himself paralyzed when a detainee turns combative during the booking process.
Later on, Senior Constable Peter Emery (Oliver Acklan) seeks guidance from Inspector Ivy Tsuma (Zindzi Okenyo) on managing the volatile Ahmed and Greg situation. She advises him to leave it in her capable hands as she prepares for a crucial meeting with Superintendent Trevor Latt (Erik Thomson). During this meeting, Tsuma discovers that Detective Sergeant Edith Barcelos (Simone Kessell) has been appointed to the prestigious Crime Management position.
Dalia attends a co-therapy session with Sabine Horvat (Annie Rose Buckley), where she attempts to articulate how her past encounters with law enforcement officers led her to flee. She concedes that her actions were misguided. Sabine, in turn, apologizes for her friend's decision to post their altercation online. Ahmed's meeting with Kasim (Akkshey Caplash) takes a drastically different turn, culminating in Kasim severing ties with Ahmed.
Edith makes a concerted effort to extend a hand of reconciliation to Tsuma, but Tsuma makes her disdain for her quite evident. The task force's fortunes don't seem to be improving either, as Senior Constable Sandra Ali (Roxie Mohebbi) and Constable Rory Hooper (Aidan Gillett) engage in a brief spat when Ali attempts to assign him case files for review. Ahmed tries to reach out to Dalia at school but encounters Yvonne Kaczmarek (Emily Martino) instead. After leaving his card, Yvonne informs him that he might find Dalia at her boyfriend's place.
Ahmed trails Hayden Broadis, portrayed by Jai Waetford, to Ty Egan's (Hunter Page-Lochard's) bakery. There, Hayden not only secures lunch but also restocks supplies for Dalia. Coincidentally, Theo Leon (Richard Brancatisano) is also present. Matters take a turn for the worse for Hayden when Ty and Theo discover that he and Dalia have purchased a 3D printer, using it to manufacture and sell miniature containers. Ty promptly instructs Hayden to cease his activities and later conveys the same message to Dalia.
Ahmed subsequently trails Hayden to their downtown rendezvous with Dalia, where he intends to drop off the lunch and contraband. Witnessing Dalia engaging in dealings, Ahmed, instead of apprehending her, offers his assistance. In response, she scorns him by spitting in his face. Matters escalate further when Ali, who has also witnessed the entire ordeal, confronts Ahmed, accusing him of jeopardizing her sole lead for the task force. Ahmed, overwhelmed with guilt regarding Dalia, offers no resistance and承认s a sense of responsibility for her current plight.
Consumed by guilt over Dalia, Ahmed seeks out Shanika Thorpe (Dalara Williams) and confesses the pressure he exerted on her through increased bail checks and searches. Shanika, visibly startled, inquiries if he is certain about going on record with his statement. He asserts that it is his way of making amends.
While conducting a reserve trace on Dalia and Hayden's cell phones, Ali catches whispers about Dalia's small contrivances. Besides this, they only gather that Hayden and Dalia remain in constant communication, utilizing burner phones. Meanwhile, Shanika informs Dalia about Ahmed's visit. Dalia reacts with the same astonishment initially displayed by Shanika. Although Dalia expresses a desire to let the matter drop, Shanika is intent on pursuing it further. This ultimately prompts Dalia to reveal her strip search ordeal to Shanika, who hints that they can turn her situation into a substantial financial windfall.
Before bidding farewell to the day, Detective Graham McKeown (Richard Sydenham) and Ali agree to intensify their surveillance on Hayden and Dalia. However, an awkward moment arises when McKeown proposes Ahmed for the surveillance duty. Given Ahmed's complications with Dalia, McKeown defers to Ali to find a more suitable candidate. Ali subsequently seeks assistance from Greg Hall for this purpose.
Elsewhere, Ahmed unburdens himself to Trevor and Tsuma, confessing his harassment of Shanika. Clearly disapproving, they instruct him to return home and secure legal representation. As he complies, Ahmed happens to glimpse Ali's directive for heightened surveillance on Hayden and Dalia, lying abandoned on his desk.
Theo visits her chum, Ruby Samuels (Maia Thomas), and discovers an unsettling revelation: her son, Jason Samuels (Reagan Swao), caught with one of Dalia's toys—a mere conduit for a concealed Vape Pen. Theo's disapproval is palpable. Upon Dalia's return, she catches Hayden in the act of dismantling the 3D printer, sparking a fiery altercation and fueling her suspicion that he's the one who revealed the toys to Ty. Despite his reassurances to the contrary, her doubts persist. Matters escalate further when she reveals her intention to keep the printer at Yvonne's place.
Meanwhile, Theo and Ty come to terms with the warrant on his phone records. Tempers flare even more when Theo produces the toy confiscated from Jason and promptly calls Hayden, summoning him to the pub for a discussion about a potential future opportunity—a ruse, both to remove Hayden from the scene and to confront him physically.
The episode concludes with Ty making a visit to Dalia, leaving the narrative poised with anticipation.
