Delhi Crime – Season 2 Episode 2 1

SBO Subhash Gupta shares with Vartika that the victim's granddaughter witnessed the heinous act as the perpetrators fled in their getaway vehicle. He urges his team to keep a sharp eye out for the murderers, emphasizing that they have a mode of transportation to watch out for.

The only way to track down the Kachcha-Baniyan gang is through a meticulous examination of security camera footage for any traces of the vehicle used in their escape. Vartika engages in a heartfelt conversation with the eyewitness granddaughter, who shares that she heard loud noises that fateful night, but upon investigating, her grandmother, now injured, rushed to lock herself in her room.

The following night, the media continues its relentless vilification of the Delhi Police, blaming them for the crimes. In an attempt to assist Vartika's task force, retired Officer Chadha joins the case. There's a presumption that the DNT (De-Notified Tribals) of India are committing murders and thefts as they did many years ago.

Officer Chadha's derogatory remarks about the tribals irk Vartika and her team, prompting her to remind him to focus on the crime at hand and work towards solving it. Despite her efforts, he continues to disparage the tribals without providing any factual evidence of their past crimes. Vartika then assigns Jairaj and Subhash to divide all cops involved in the case into teams and work alongside Chadha.

The police set out to visit the tribal region where the DNTs reside to gather suspects. Jairaj is aghast when Chadha insists on picking up female tribals alongside other male suspects according to his list. Following Chadha's instructions, a significant number of tribals are apprehended and brought to the Delhi police station.

Vartika tasks the crime cell officer with investigating the leak of CCTV footage from Arora's murder. She urges him to identify who leaked the footage to the media and informs the team that all cops will be investigated over this matter. Neeti calls her husband, worriedly inquiring if he leaked information about the Kachcha-Baniyan gang, which led to the leak of information to the media.

Devender's fury boiled over as he lashed out at her for not trusting him. The Delhi Police station was brimming with tribals under investigation, and one of them retorted to Chadha's mockery, prompting the officer to place the man at the top of his suspect list. Vartika noticed how Chadha had coerced the team into picking up women and children and asked Jairaj to rectify the situation. As Chadha methodically listed the crimes of all the tribals, chaos ensued at the station.

Vartika was informed that two of the tribals, Azaad and Jugnu, had been in the vicinity of the first victim's house before the murder, based on their GPS locations. Azaad claimed to have turned his back on a life of theft and had started working as a watchman, while Jugnu was high on adrenaline as he was being investigated. Vartika shared this information with them while Jairaj arrived with CCTV footage of the two men in the area of the first murder.

Jugnu protested his innocence, boasting his skill in evading CCTV cameras if he intended to commit a crime. Azaad clarified that they were not the perpetrators, but the cops asked Vartika to let them handle the two men to elicit information through other means – i.e., assault.

The Cyber Cell officer, Ashutosh, revealed that a junior cop, Rumaal Singh, was the one who leaked the footage to the media and produced his call records as proof. She suspended the officer and reprimanded him for compromising the investigation. Vartika informed CP Vijay about the suspension and updated him on the progress of the case.

The media sentiment remained hostile towards the cops when a lawyer, Vineet Singh, arrived at the station to offer legal assistance to the tribals seeking help. He questioned Vartika about the detention of the tribals without any prior criminal record. She retorted, engaging in a lively back-and-forth about the situation.

Vineet revealed that he was helping the DNTs because he belonged to the tribal community himself, further fueling Vartika and Bhupendra's discussion on the matter. The public sentiment against DNTs had been further maligned, and the country was engaging in a social boycott against other DNTs solely due to their tribal background.

Vartika's brow furrowed with concern as she pondered whether they were making a grave mistake. The two policemen engaged in a conversation about their children, their voices drowned by the ruckus outside the station. Vartika noticed students enacting a street play, their energetic gestures and passionate words serving as a testament to their defense of the DNTs, while the media captured the scene outside the police station, their flashbulbs popping like a cacophony of dissent.

That night, Jugnu and Azaad were taken to the hospital for a test, with Inspector Neeti accompanying them. She was still attempting to reach her husband, whose emotions were still raw from their morning chat. As Neeti led the suspects inside the hospital, she received a call from her husband, her voice softening as she listened intently.

Jugnu and Azaad saw their chance and took advantage of Neeti's distraction. They managed to slip away from their captors and escape from the hospital, leaving Neeti stressed and panicked.
