The third episode of Delhi Crime Season 2 unfurls with a family's visit to their grandparents' abode, where the little girl, upon entering, is met with the chilling sight of her grandparents' lifeless bodies. The gruesome assault mirrors the heinous crimes perpetrated by the Kachcha Baniyan gang in the past, as Jairaj and Bhupendra discuss the similar modus operandi. They speculate that Jugnu and Azaad committed the murders mere hours after their escape from custody.

Meanwhile, Chadha and Subhash's unrelenting pursuit of information on Jugnu and Azaad leads them to brutally beat up the tribals. The media, fueled by a frenzy of hate, vilifies the Delhi Police, while Neeti grapples with the impending confrontation with Vartika. She is reprimanded by the DCP for taking a call from her family, an act deemed avoidable. Neeti cancels her leave application and is dismissed without a second thought.
Vartika and Bhupendra delve into the criminal's method of operation, concluding that the Kachcha Baniyan gang numbers more than five due to the nature of their attacks and escape. Vartika diligently tries to find a loophole in the culprits' plan, while Bhupendra asserts that Chadha and Subhash will extract the information from the tribals.
The students are out in the streets, rioting against the perceived negligence of the Delhi Police, while reporters camp outside the police station, hounding the authorities. Inspector Sudhir engages with the first victim's family, trying to gather information on stolen jewellery along with the murder.
At the police station, Subhash's relentless beating of a young tribal boy prompts the boy's father to beg him to continue the assault but keep quiet about Azaad and Jugnu in their tribal language. After continued harassment, the child finally reveals that Azaad may have fled to his sister's house.
CP Vijay receives an order from higher-ups regarding the crime and promises a public statement within 24 hours. He gives Vartika 24 hours to bring the criminals to justice, and she vows to deliver. The cops set out on a mission to find Azaad and Jugnu, but the tribals are uncooperative. Chadha and Subhash arrive at Azaad's sister's house and arrest her and her family for harboring a criminal.
At Neeti's cabin, Devender visits her, and after their banter, they reconcile. However, Neeti reveals how her actions caused the suspects to flee and that her leave has been cancelled. Their argument escalates, and he storms out of her cabin in a rage. The cops investigate Azaad's sister's family and assault them in front of her, adding another layer of trauma to an already traumatic situation.
Vartika received an email from her daughter at Chandni's college in Toronto, prompting her to make a call and reprimand her for skipping classes. Meanwhile, Azaad's sister, with a lie about needing to use the restroom, fled to Vartika's cabin for a heart-to-heart talk. The sister pleaded with Vartika to let her in-laws go, but Vartika lashed out at her, criticizing the tribes for not cooperating with the police by telling the truth.
Vartika then asked for Azaad's sister to be brought out for a more in-depth conversation. The sister revealed that she was innocent and that her family was being wrongfully targeted by the police. She also disclosed that Chadha was demanding a bribe of ₹15,000 ($200) from the tribes in exchange for their freedom from police custody.
Vartika was shocked by this revelation and immediately reprimanded the retired cop, kicking him out of the task force and telling him to forget his pension and hand over the case. Despite his threat that the tribes would never be caught without him, Vartika stood firm in her decision.
Azaad and Jugnu arrived at the station with Attorney Vineet, claiming they were here to surrender and revealing that the criminals had fled out of fear of being arrested for something they did not do. Vineet provided CCTV footage from his office to corroborate their claim that Azaad and Jugnu were not at the scene of the crime on the night of the third incident.
With this new information about Azaad and Jugnu's innocence in the murders, Vartika was caught between a rock and a hard place. CP Vijay reprimanded her after hearing the development, asking her to still face the media and declare Azaad and Jugnu as the culprits for the murders, while letting the courts decide their fate.
However, Vartika finds herself hesitant amidst the orders, her thoughts spiraling as she is in her cabin when she receives a call from Chandni. The daughter's pride in Vartika's achievement is palpable, but the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) reveals that the true culprits remain unidentified. Chandni assures Vartika that she trusts her mother to do the right thing and ends the call with a firmness that echoes in the air.
Vartika shares the conference details with Bhupendra and Jairaj, claiming that she will present Azaad and Jugnu as the perpetrators. The tribal community is released from police detention, but Vartika remains lost in thought. Bhupendra informs her of the hate crimes against the Dalit New Thinkers (DNTs), adding to her unease.
At the press conference, Vartika shocks everyone by revealing that the true murderers are still at large and that the tribals were innocent, their alibis having been successfully verified. CP Vijay is taken aback by Vartika's statement, while Bhupendra drops Jugnu and Azaad off at their homes, stating that they are free.
Meanwhile, the real criminal gang is preparing for their next attack. The group consists of four young people—three men and one woman—as they arrive at their next target's house. The leader of the gang expresses his fear of being caught due to the house being full of guests, but the girl is determined to proceed. However, their car turns back due to his apprehension, leaving a sense of unease in the air.
